      Pros

Great culture, patient first attitude, room for advancement, world-class strategies, great pay and bonuses, fitness focused (on-site gym, hsa contribution), 401k match up to 3%

      Cons

Work-life balance was tough, but not the manager’s fault - just so much to do with so little additional support.

They don't care about their people and they show it everyday

      Pros

Work from home flexibility; vacation is decent

      Cons

Poor communication; it's common knowledge that they promote people to managers when they're not ready and then provide no support; they preach integrity and a positive work environment but when my manager openly bullied and harassed team members, Employee Relations stated it didn't merit action since my manager admitted that she knew she did something wrong but she didn't agree to correct her behavior; work life balance is always highlighted as the biggest weakness of the company in our yearly survey but very little is ever done to help; people are made to feel easily replaceable when bringing up issues in the workplace

      Constant Management Turnover

      Pros

Friendly co- workers, benefits are decent, recently updated office areas

      Cons

Constant upper and midlevel management turnover in the recent 3/4 years (Syracuse) results in extreme changes to culture and overall work environment. Most of the plant has changed to 12 hour shifts; work-life balance has quickly fallen wayside. Constant and sudden extreme changes in processes with minimal to no training results in major mistakes which lead to investigations, not problem solving. Departments are in silos; communication is minimal and people are constantly questioning the longevity of the plant. Most recently, seasoned employees had their positions reposted and were made to interview- resulting in being informed they no longer qualified. The days of retirement from this once esteemed company are over. Not many opportunities for advancement as the company focuses more on cutting out the fat and putting more work on already stressed employees. There's no gym, no daycare, and are now removing onsite dining facility.

I was over-stressed and dissatisfied. No room for advancement.

      Pros

I liked that they provided amenities such as a daycare on premises; Gym, etc. The cafeteria is fairly decent as well. Office spaces are much better than some of the other companies. Laxed dress code was also much appreciated.

      Cons

There was a lot of nepotism--it didn't matter how hard you worked but the promotions and raises were always given to the favorites. It became increasingly demotivating to work in an environment like that. There also wasn't much flexibility to have a better work-life balance, even though this was emphasized by the company on paper. At the end it felt like the negatives outweighed the positives.

      Little consideration for employees

      Pros

BMS is a solid company with a good pipeline. Good salaries for administrative staff. Good benefits.

      Cons

Company more interested in paying higher dividends to shareholders than in employees. Although company promises work-life balance, it depends on supervisor/management team and department. Company expects to do more work with fewer employees so workload often overwhelming. No recourse available if manager’s assessment is wrong or unfair. Yearly performance evaluation not always fair/managers not required to contact feedback providers or consider their evaluations. Hire temps instead of increasing permanent staff – don’t see hidden costs in employee turnover.

      Pros

Clean and safe work environment Dedicated/hardworking employees for the most part Challenging/interesting work

      Cons

Zero work/life balance in some areas HR support grossly lacking... months to back fill open positions Few standard work processes in key areas leading to employee fiefdoms Over-relinace on Email and IM, grossly overused (100-150 emails per day, steady stream of IMs) Key business processes capable, but not in control, resulting in ongoing stream of "emergencies" and fire-fighting
