I have been working at Bristol West full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-Great team environment; plenty of support from peers and supervisors.
-Management does a great job of keeping us together, support when needed, and assuring it is a great place to work
-exposure to multiple facets of the auto-claims world; more so than many other companies

    Cons

the ebb & flow of the claims volume does not always get handled well
-when the staffing is on the lower end, employees are handling more with inadequate resource---- expectations vary too much between supervisors

    Advice to Management

The company works better when it is adequately staffed. Employees get burned out when they are tasked with the jobs of multiple people.

I worked at Bristol West full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-There are amazing people working there. You will not find coworkers that friendly and awesome elsewhere.
-Work hours. You work 8hrs a day. If you get in early, you get out early.
    -No surveys.

    Cons

-Managements. If you have a good leader, he/her will help you grow. If you got one of those bad ones, you will hate the claim life.
-Work load. They over work you and stingy with the over time. It is common for adjusters to have 150+ claim files pending. There is no way to get back up. Once I got hired by another insurance company and told them the work loads, they could not believe it. It was ridiculous.
-Pay. For the amount of work load they give you, they have the lowest starting salary. Only one they beat was Infinity.

    Advice to Management

Help your adjusters. Don't blame them for customers' complain calls. With the cut throat policy Bristol West are selling, they are doing the best they can.
Ease on the claim files. No other insurance company let their adjuster have that kind of pending files. If you need more adjuster, hire more adjusters.

I have been working at Bristol West full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -40 hour M-F schedule
-Quarterly Company Sponsored Team Gatherings (off site)
-Some good teams, some bad. Dependent upon which team you're placed on

    Cons

-Pay is below industry average for the area
-Upward mobility is extremely limited (run more like a small company)
-Promotion is less about file quality, more about who likes you/high school politics

    Advice to Management

    - Multiple supervisors need replacing or significant training at minimum
-Pay employees proper compensation and less of them will leave for other companies

I have been working at Bristol West full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    -The paychecks were actually cashable.

    Cons

-Male run office with main person having issues with orientation and race.
-No promotions unless you are part of the good ole boys club.
-Lots of employees are disenfranchised because of management attitude. Management has actually told employees, if you don't like it there, you can go work down the street.
-Promition of brown nosers and snitches.
-Most supervisors are micro managers who don't know how to manage conflict.

    Advice to Management

Please quit so the company could hire a manager who is an actual human being.

I worked at Bristol West full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Work from home
    Ample resources to do job
Great co-workers with alot of knowledge
    Very flexible with employees schedule

    Cons

    No upward growth
Pay is very low compared to other insurance company
    Favoritism with supervisors
Non-standard line of business makes a difficult job even harder
No training or additional learning provided and initial training is laughable.

    Advice to Management

Create a comprehensive training program so adjusters aren't set up to fail. Create better job opportunities for current adjusters that include a pay raise. Very few will want to do additional duties with a "wait and see" approach to compensation. Stop hiring people with none to minimal claims/insurance experience to do upper level work. Your adjusters should not know more about claims than management.

    Pros

Fun work environment, they appreciate their employees and make sure you know when you're doing well.

    Cons

Overworked. You never feel like you can leave having everything done for the day or the week. This brings the customer service down.

    Advice to Management

Hire more employees to distribute the work load so that the job can be done correctly and more time can be spent on each claim.

I have been working at Bristol West full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great benefits re: PTO, compensation, recognition program, opportunities for growth, training provided. Awesome environment.

    Cons

Depending on the office location, some supervisors may not seem to push for your success, you may have to learn the ropes and know when/how to advance to the next level.

    Advice to Management

All procedures shouldn't be housed entirely in one location, sharing the work with different offices would benefit everyone.
