I have been working at British Airways part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Convenient for swapping your shifts if you want to go away for a weekend. It's limited to 8 swaps a week so technically you can work 3 shifts a week. You receive a raise every year on your date of hire. Basically you do not have to ask your manager for any type of raise during your entire employment with them.

    Cons

Its very sonority based a lot of people who've worked in the company for many years have no problem raising their voice to anything they feel is not 'equal.' A lot of the older BA employees are very washed out, complain about everything and anything. Because the company is seniority based, prepare to have Tuesday/Wednesday off for the first 3 years of working (minimum). Employees who've worked for 10+ years are getting paid $25/hr+ to work and majority of them cannot be bothered with helping passengers .

Some of the "newer" agents (less than 5 years) who are always doing their jobs correctly and make a mistake once, rules are strictly enforced. Someone who has been in the company for 10+ years makes a mistake and it gets brushed off like it never happened.

    Advice to Management

Some managers enforce the rules more then others. There are definitely favorites who can get away with almost anything.

I have been working at British Airways part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Travel benefits for you and family members and various development trainings. Multicultural environment and global experience. Safe environment to work

    Cons

Always looking at ways to cut jobs and the way they cut jobs it is not at all logical or depending on a persons performance. It is just based on the number they want to reduce. Meaning that you can get fired anytime and there is no longevity.

    Advice to Management

Value the human factor and don't treat staff like just a cost

    Pros

Being pilot in this company is like an imagine. Pilotage were already my dream so I made it true. I'm happy.

    Cons

Salatry is a bit low. It should be increased. Except this no prblem with my job.

    Advice to Management

You'd be happier. Although this, I like my company's management. Include this issue they help any issues.

    Pros

Travel benefits , every day you meet new people, and get to work with friends.

Working with old bitter people that get payed three times what I do but always complain about the company.

    Advice to Management

I worked at British Airways part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Interact with different people from different backgrounds, Learning something new everyday, nice setting

    Cons

Manager bias, Puts no stock into workers, beliefs are more of a Shareholder theory, little hours and little pay, consistent drama with managers and staff that has a trickle down effect

    Advice to Management

Managers should be managers NOT friends that start drama, raise pay, put stock into workers

    Pros

Health insurance, travel benefits and intensive customer service training. Supervisors ABSOLUTELY AWESOME. They work ridiculously hard to try and keep their staff happy but only so much they can do.

    Cons

Understaffed with hiring AND overtime freeze. New computer system does much of the work for you but limits your ability to problem solve. Bugs still being worked out and frustrated is understatement.

    Advice to Management

HIRE the right people and listen to feedback from the front lines.

I worked at British Airways full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Your days are similar, yet different every day. You have regular customers and first time travelers. Much better than a desk job, always exciting.

    Cons

No longer BA staff. It used to be much better. You used to get flight benefits! The pay was better, too. The entire industry is changing.

    Advice to Management

Everything at the airport has gone downhill since outsourcing. Customer service has left the building. Lots of customer complaints, but nobody at the airport seems to care anymore. They did before.
