I worked at British Council for less than a year

    Pros

British Council is no doubt an outstanding organisation with amazing projects and countless creative ideas. The team is full of young professionals who are passionate about their work and ready to stay in the office 24/7 if necessary. As as intern, I was provided with multiple trainings, an opportunity to participate in a day-long workshop on client orientation along with full-time employees, access to some online educational...

    Cons

The workload was always overwhelming, and if you left the office earlier than your team members (that is after 5 or 6) you would be frowned upon. Gossip in the workplace was pretty bad, and some people clearly did not like working with each other, which created quite a lot of tensions. Department managers can be quite arrogant and condescending. The same can be said about regular project coordinators - some of them...

I worked at British Council for less than a year

    Pros

Very good experience in a variety of different departments. Staff were friendly and welcoming and the work was varied. Pay was decent for a summer internship.

    Cons

There were not many downsides to working here but at times the running of the internship could be slightly disorganised and interns were not sure where they were supposed to be.

    Advice to Management

I did not have the opportunity to interact much with senior management but my advice would be to keep the summer internship programmes running as they are very beneficial to people interested in the sector.

I worked at British Council for less than a year

    Pros

The organization respects the employers; we have good kitchens and relaxed space in the office. And I learn a lot from the professionals, they are willing to give huge support for the young.

    Cons

The organization is dominated by female, so there may be lots of gossips. You have to take care of your behaviour, rumors run faster than anything in BC.
