    Advice to Management

Employees should be judged based on the skills and delivered work as oppose to the age and the number of years in service.

I have been working at British Council full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Working with excellent colleagues on a range of interesting projects is the main thing that keeps me here. There is the opportunity for international travel if you are suitably qualified.

    Cons

Low salary and no possibility for pay rise for internal staff. The organisation is also very siloed and you can get pigeon holed rvery easily.

    Advice to Management

Bring back salary grading within bands for internal staff and ensure that staff, at all levels, are accountable for the work that they do.

I have been working at British Council full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good work-life balance in my experience. Good opportunities for lateral movements.Overall a fairly relaxed place to work.

    Cons

Low salaries in most cases, and even compared to other British Council offices in other parts of the world; public service rigidities. Very little investment in staff - marketable training is almost non-existent. Big danger you'll be branded as public sector if you spend any significant amount of time here.

    Advice to Management

    Manage talent.
