I worked at British Gas full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The benefits of working there were great e.g. on-site gym, tax-free allowance, flexible hours for work-life balance. With the right manager and team they set you up on a career development plan which was worthwile and set me up for my next role. Pay is good and bonus scheme is fair and relative to your performance throughout the year. Opportunity to move between departments is encouraged and therefore great for experience.

    Cons

Very regimented and structed business with lots of processes and therefore can make the work mundane and boring at times.

I have been working at British Gas full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Pay not bad but now that’s starting to change.

    Cons

Terrible shifts, long hours, bullying and intimidating strategies used to perform, micro-managed, pushed to the point of exhaustion, treat you like your dispensable, no voice, no opinions allowed, floor commanders on site (military based operation), systems not fit for purpose, systems crash daily, smart metering technology not fit for purpose, CEO driving company into the ground, pretend to care about mental health but pile on even more pressure. Customer service completely moved offshore, second class service for customers, company has no money “apparently.” CEO loves to reward himself generously. Continuous fights over pay rises and contract changes. No work/life balance. Expect to go home mentally drained and exhausted. This company will give you a mental health condition.
