I worked at Broad River Retail full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Potential to make good earnings, good bonuses, better than previous furniture stores I've worked. CEO and VP of Sales take time to learn about their employees.

    Cons

Benefits and vacation days are not good. Extremely long hours.

I worked at Broad River Retail full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Compensation plan is decent for commissioned sales people.

    Cons

Little work life balance. GM and Regional Managers are horrible

    Advice to Management

If you take care of your sales team by being more flexible with their schedules- ie- staggering shifts instead of requiring everyone to work bell to bell you would probably have less turnover.

I have been working at Broad River Retail full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Broad River has placed a major emphasis on culture in the last year, and the result is a lot of very happy long and short term employees.

    Cons

There is still a lot of work to do to make this a GREAT place to work, but Broad River is up to the challenge.

    Advice to Management

Keep putting people first, and everyone will come out even more successful than they've ever been.

I have been working at Broad River Retail full-time

    Pros

Management is very flexible and willing to allow that to be shown it work schedules.

    Cons

They do not follow key business practices as they state in their mission statement or core values. I have just witnessed an outside candidate fill a senior management position. In order for that to happen they reduced their expectations and added some to another manager. My dad works their, has an MBA, but was not even considered for that position. So much for hard work and dedication. They preach a Christian based company with bible studies and occasional prayers at meetings, but allow integrity to linger by the wayside as they see fit.

    Advice to Management

Don't not judge a book by it cover, lest you be judged by those same standards. It looks all shiny and impressive, but it may not be just as someone that may not look impressive might show major potential given the opportunity

I have been working at Broad River Retail full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

One of the most important aspects of any company is its people. It is the foundation that each company is built on. From our Corporate office to our HomeStores, our company truly values each and every employee. The people and culture make Broad River Furniture dba Ashley HomeStore such a great place to work!

    Cons

There are no cons that I can think of. It really is a great place to work. I love going to work everyday knowing that I am a valued employee. I am proud to be part of this great company.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work!

    Pros

Challenging and rewarding work with family-style atmosphere. Treats employees well and listens to employee feedback for ways to improve. Aggressive employee discounts on Ashley furniture, mattresses & accessories. Ping Pong battles with coworkers at the corporate office.

    Cons

Dealing with a few coworkers who tend to focus on the negatives.

    Advice to Management

Keep focusing on Culture and on positive Employee morale.

I worked at Broad River Retail full-time

    Pros

Enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere with some of the most genuine people to be around. Especially being in corporate, everyone was so hard working.

    Cons

With the exponential growth, many things were left by the wayside, especially appreciation and gratitude if you weren't part of the sales team.

    Advice to Management

Even though profit is an important goal (and the reason the company runs), I think there needs to be more attention to the employees. Sometimes, hard work and dedication can be overlooked due to the blindness that a sales goal can have.
