I worked at Broadcom full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Broadcom Limited really is a new company. It bears little resemblance to the old Broadcom Corp. Pro if you hated the old Broadcom?
Broadcom Ltd is better you're in engineering and enjoy "fighting for your job" (words from the CEO) every few months. Terrible if you're not an engineer (e.g. G&A) because you're doing 4x the work with probably a pay cut. Sadly, despite all the fighting and bodies being thrown under the bus, it's not like you have the potential financial upside anywhere like working at other companies.

    Cons

Every 6 MONTHS or so, there's probably a new acquisition. It doesn't matter that you're the acquiring company, your job may be cut at that time because that's when you're fighting for your job again. As a result, coworkers may become aggressive, territorial and will not hesitate to throw you under the bus to save their own hide. Keep this in mind when you're reading reviews pre-2016. Better yet, you should really search for Avago and read about that company instead.

    Advice to Management

No advice because it wouldn't matter anyway. Hock as a formula that had worked very well for shareholders. But if you're on glassdoor reading this, you're probably not major shareholder but looking for employment.

    Pros

Good for the beginner engineer not the experience person. They focus only is not to invest on future product

    Cons

Company does not invest on the engineering. There is no value of real talent.

I worked at Broadcom full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Since acquired by Avago everything went south. It is bad to have a company whose employees are stiffing employees wherever they can...

    Cons

Before the Avago acquisition Broadcom was the greatest company I worked for. After the acquisition everything went bad.

I have been working at Broadcom (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Is good at lunch time because not so crowded in cafeteria with all the lay-off. Also easier to find parking space. We use to foster innovation - incredible accomplishment and support at Broadcom some time in past. Now we figure how to do more with much less. We build sport car with paper engine now.

    Cons

Work life feeling in the pits. Get management to sign off on everything. Pressure to compete. Big concern is how we do cheaper. Work you to stay on cutting edge but without tools. If something broke and you need fixed, be prepared to hear No because cost. Lots of stuff broke. Even people from Avago frighten to lose job.

    Advice to Management

Management would never listen for advice. When stock begin to go down for good, will be to late. Many of us know to leave and will do that at time not much longer.

I have been working at Broadcom full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

After acquisition by Avago, literally nothing except for RSUs and the stock price.

    Cons

Previous company was a heaven to work for. But, post acquisition there have been lot of changes happening in the name of cost cutting. Fear of business units getting sold and layoffs. Visa procedures are in stake. People in mid of green card process are stumbled. H1b filings were messed up and was not done for many. New grads shouldn't opt for this company anymore. Talents are starting to leave the company. No new hires recently. Work culture seems to have changed. Time to leave for a better option.

    Advice to Management

Nothing to advice for current management in the hands of such a CEO.

    Pros

Great company to work for before the acquisition. Decent transition bonus to stay and work through your layoff date.

    Cons

Unrealistic expectations from new mgmt. Unbearable work load. Direction and instructions are inconsistent. No sense of empathy for employees. Unpredictable transition schedule - many people let go before end date.
