    Pros

Broadcom is not very bureaucratic, it's OK to work with multiple business units, and the engineering/marketing division is less pronounced than most. There is very good internal communication, so various projects can share IP and ideas. Compensation (cash) is OK, but the equity-based compensation (RSUs mainly these days) is unusually good, and the patent rewards are generous. Perhaps the best part is the high quality of the rest of the staff.

    Cons

It's a bit chaotic, so it takes a while to learn how things work. The company makes lots of acquisitions, and tries not to mess with the new group's internal processes too quickly. This means there are many different working styles and tool chains that need to be integrated over time.

    Advice to Management

keep looking forward, don't be reactive

    Pros

Great people, and the opportunity to work on industry-leading projects and technologies.

    Cons

It's not a 9-5 job, people work hard.

    Advice to Management

Keep the start-up culture that has made the company successful.

    Pros

There are no idiots here. Okay, there are a few but they are the rare exception. In general, there are a high caliper of coworkers. There is also an air of success around here. People feel like we build quality products that "win" in the marketplace.

While they're not perfect, the senior management makes a genuine effort to look after the employees. Times when the employees have been short changed by circumstances, the senior management has done their best to compensate people for it.

    Cons

Being on the cutting edge means that there are constant schedule demands.

    Advice to Management

Stop obsessing over what our competition is doing. Rather than, "this is how we're going to beat XYZ Corp.", it I'd like to hear more "This is how we're going to do a better job."

    Pros

Broadcom has been a leader in almost all the areas it competes in. Senior management has been superior in strategy and execution. Great compensation including decent salary and generous stock awards.

    Cons

Lack of systematic professional development and training could be a drag for such a company with big growth potential.

    Advice to Management

Continue executing this downturn as flawlessly as before. Turn Broadcom from good to great.
