    Pros

Compensation is above industry average, especially the stocks

    Cons

A dead end careerwise. Used to be innovative, not any more

    Advice to Management

Have a clear roadmap. Listen to low-ranking staff. Allow some autonomy, and some innovation.

    Pros

Cutting edge technologies, Good work environment, great minds.

Sometimes too much politics at manager levels. With the flat hierarchy and new management under Hock Tan this should completely be under control.

    Advice to Management

    Good job. Don't kill Innovation.

    I worked at Broadcom full-time

    Pros

This is Avery large organization with good benefits and generous RSU grants. Management under Avago provided RSUs to all employees regardless of level.

    Cons

BUs are very separate and focus is on maintaining MBOs assigned to each BU. Every BU has a revenue and expense metric that has to be met. Business groups that are not deemed 'sustainable' are quickly shut down.

    Advice to Management

No advice for management. The current CEO is pretty clear in his expectations for each group and what the end result will be if expectations are not met.

    Pros

Very structured methodology, extensive review process and skilled colleagues to learn from. Pleasant atmosphere all in all.

    Cons

Developing complex systems whose production has been on going for over a decade often reduces to trimming the hedges on monstrous legacy code with little to no place for inventiveness

    Advice to Management

Make sure new employees, especially those with no experience in SoC products, are familiar with the full scope of the project.

I have been working at Broadcom full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Excellent pay and great stock performance. Benefits are good, 401K is excellent. If you solely care about making money then this will be a good fit.

    Cons

Run super lean, lots of work, lonely environment, not open to gaining efficiency. Buys companies all the time, COA environment because people are scared to lose their jobs, always adding more work while driving headcount down. Runs flat so hard to grow. No work life balance, you are always on call.

    Advice to Management

Most people work to live, not live to work. Need to find out how to give employees work life balance. Need stronger talent at the executive level, that went out the door once it was sold to Avago.
