I have been working at Broadway Technology full-time for more than 9 years

    Pros

I worked at many companies before starting my career at Broadway and have never felt so empower to affect change and take ownership as I have during my time at here. The direction of the company is driven openly and all employees are encouraged to speak up and get involved with everything that resonates with us. Broadway is also a true meritocracy that heavily values the self-starters who seek out new challenges so...

    Cons

The downside to rapid growth is there is a large workload and a lot of responsibility - this is not a place to hide. The business requires everyone proactively dive into the work and own it. If you are not ready to do that, this is not the place for you. Historically on-boarding and ramp up is steep curve and has been a challenge to many. With this in mind, the company is making large efforts to improve that process...

    Advice to Management

Continue to build the family culture through the next stretch of growth. The people and relationships that are built are a part of what make this place amazing.

    I worked at Broadway Technology

    Pros

Nice view from the office with an opportunity to dabble in finance and try to assume ownership

    Cons

Archaic structure with next to no opportunity for growth. All knowledge in the company seems to be held in the heads of employees both current and former. Documentation is out of date and finding information is made to feel like pulling teeth You are asked to be independent yet told to not be afraid to ask questions. It's a hilarious dichotomy which just makes you feel like you're a burden on others for not knowing everything....

    Advice to Management

Have a proper onboarding program so your employees can actually contribute, not feel like a burden. Have proper performance reviews so employees can grow. Stop worrying so much about perception and look at what work is getting done.

I worked at Broadway Technology full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

Ownership at Broadway is huge. You can take as much responsibility as you can handle which can lead to a potentially high workload. The workload comes with a lot of responsibility. It's impossible to hide behind others. The people here are very fun and exceptionally smart and many come from top schools. The challenges here are tough and you will never get bored. The benefits are top notch. There's high pay, plenty...

    Cons

You may struggle in Broadway's environment if you're not a self-directed or you need someone to hold your hand in your work. That being said, internal support is nearly non-existent, and you can bet that most documentation is either missing or outdated. Broadway can definitely improve their internal support as it seems like all the answers are in the heads of a few senior developers who have been there a while. Work...

    Advice to Management

As Broadway grows, it should try to maintain the close knit culture, as that's a major part of what makes the company so fun to work at.

I have been working at Broadway Technology full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

Somewhat open culture and good benefits. Reasonable medical insurance and pay scale.

    Cons

    - You will get buried in too much work and will end up working 10+ hours each day at minimum. People end up working over the weekend to catchup with the extra workload. - The amount of added responsibility or overloaded work doesn't transform into growth and bonus. Yes it does sometimes reflect in “Shout-outs” in company meetings, thats all. - Very few people who are close to the management get rewarded for hard-work,...

    Advice to Management

Instead of outsourcing, this company should look into opening “Offshore Development Centers” in places like Philippines, Russia, Poland, China, India or Singapore and in that way you can start selling products in those countries and also cut the software development cost by one half without having to deal with outsourcing companies. If company opens ODCs in asia/europe, it will be able to provide true 24/7 support needed...

I worked at Broadway Technology full-time

    Pros

Nearly all of the employees at the Austin location are friendly professionals who make the office a satisfying, occasionally enjoyable place to work.

    Cons

The vibe from the NY office is nearly the exact opposite of the vibe in Austin -- bad enough to drop this review from a 4 to a 2.

I have been working at Broadway Technology full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great autonomy for individual contributors, very little office politics and great developer peers that you can learn a lot from. Employees are very driven to deliver for customers and everyone interacts with each other with the intent of achieving that goal. There seems to be a great "no jerk" policy in place where and everyone I've interacted with is pleasant to deal with and genuinely wants to help. Management is also...

    Cons

The project timelines are aggressive, sometimes result in after-hours work but I don't think this is more than is typical of a growing and successful small company. If you can't handle that, this isn't the place for you.

I have been working at Broadway Technology full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

Great location (office is located at the 360 bridge on Lake Austin, building has a gym), super smart co-workers, the best benefits of any company I have ever worked for, and I have worked for a lot of premium tech companies.....lunch everyday, flexible about working remotely, great comp and 401K matching, generous business share (including stock and bonuses), outstanding medical plan. I have been working at Broadway Technology full-time

    Pros

They have decent pay, offices in trendy cities, and put a lot of effort into recruiting and training college hires. There are regular events to meet your coworkers and people are very nice and friendly.

    Cons

I don't see any viable career path for senior employees here. A few long term senior employees manage to make it work but that usually seems to be the employees that were with the company since the beginning or to involve a lot of stagnation and frustration if you weren't; so they've been having trouble holding onto talent. My perception is that there's not much opportunity to increase your responsibility within the company...

    Advice to Management

Have regular reviews, annual raises based off those reviews, and get and listen to feedback from employees. Make performance criteria that can be consistently adhered to so that employees aren't reliant on favoritism or being overworked for advancement.
