I have been working at Brocade full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

WAS an amazing place to work. Things are rapidly changing

    Cons

Sell out to Broadcom has killed the spirit and personality of this once great place to work

    Advice to Management

I worked at Brocade full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

No real positives to work at this place. All of my experiences with this company were negative.

    Cons

*Politics interfere with even the smallest of projects

*Important corporate level policies are not in place, leaving downstream groups to flounder in ambiguity while they try to solve company level problems

*Legal is monolithic in creating new policies

*Corporate culture does not reward "Breaking the Status Quo," in fact management would prefer you remain a cog in the machine

*You are a number to this company. You are not a person. I had the pleasure of sitting in a meeting with a Senior Director during a hiring phase. To paraphrase what he said: "I want to squeeze those students for what they are worth, because they are going to leave in a year anyway. Pay them as little as we can."

*HR is not able to act effectively

    Examples:

    - A potential employee who was to be flown on-site to interview was once left in the lurch. He had to call someone outside of HR the night before his interview to frantically figure out how to get to San Jose after his recruiter forgot to purchase his flight.

    - Scheduling to recruit at a university career fair. After the fair was over, and at the wrong campus location.

*There are forced breaks in the work year that require you to use PTO if you want to get paid. This equates to almost the full amount of your starting PTO at the company if you are a new hire. There will be little time left over for vacations, or personal days.

*Little room for growth or opportunities for advancement. Career paths end up being more horizontal than vertical.

    Advice to Management

This advice goes out to the new purchasers of the different pieces of Brocade. You should have listened to the teams that told you what systems you should integrate.

Google docs will not effectively help you manage millions of dollar in inventory and liabilities. As the light dawns upon you for the decisions you made and the mistakes you will inherit, I wish you the best in figuring out how to avoid the fecal deluge you hoisted above your own heads.

I have been working at Brocade full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Some of the good people are still left.

    Cons

This used to be a great place to work, lots of opportunities, and a vision to the future. Unfortunately Lloyd and his carnival crew have mismanaged the current acquisition and divestiture into the ground. Lloyd used to use the quote above all the time, and his legacy is that he took one decent company and smashed it into 10 different entities...at fire sale prices.

    Advice to Management

    Find another company to ruin.

I have been working at Brocade full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Was a Great Company to work for with Great work life balance and fair compensation.

    Cons

Executive Staff only cared about themselves and their own wallets!! Agreed to many things with acquiring company only because they are out day 1 with their millions and leaving the employees to do all the work.

    Advice to Management

Stop being so afraid of the CEO of the other company and have a back bone if you really care for your employees like you say.
