I worked at Brook Street full-time

    Pros

Really not a bad place to work, I worked with a great team and they provided a lot of support for me.

    Cons

Recruitment as a lot of people know is, and can be a very ruthless job. It wasn't the career for me!

    Advice to Management

The management team I had was great, very supportive. Just to keep positivity within teams.

    Pros

As I moved from one city to another in Scotland I went to speak with several branches of Brook Street. Everybody had a very friendly and kind approach, they remembered my name every time I went to see them and they were one of the few agencies that committed to my search, taking photocopies of my documents.

    Cons

Although I have been in contact with them for a couple of months I am still searching for a job. It is not their fault, obviously.

I have been working at Brook Street full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Well known company, good internal CRM systems. Head Office contacts available when needed and often helpful an efficient.

    Cons

Extremely dated in views and actions. Not trusting in moving forward with the times I.e. Using social media effectively to gain results and get in contact with potential candidates and clients.
Poor basic and commission structure no real incentives to progress.
Progression is run acts like a monarchy you have to wait for someone to progress or abdicate in order for you to move forward.
Rules on what you do are based on who manages your branch I have worked under 3 very contrasting managers with conflicting views.
Any incentives earned you have to buy yourself then expense!

    Advice to Management

Bring yourselves into the 21st century please! Learn to reward your staff to help motivate them so you too will be rewarded. Bring in varying levels of Consultant to show a clear progression structure. For a recruitment agency you should understand the value of progression, benefits and salary.

I worked at Brook Street full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Well known company and a great training programme both as an inductee and on-going. The 4 years I spent at Brook Street gave me a great foundation to develop my career in internal recruitment.

    Cons

Too much focus on numbers and KPI's, very low base salary for the industry, confusing and frequently changing bonus and compensation scheme, no parking provided for the majority of consultants throughout the business. Can be very cliquey, colleagues being promoted based on how well liked they are rather than talent or hard work.
