I worked at Brook Street as a contractor (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Get variety in the roles they place you in. Get support from the staff at Brook Street either on work site, over the phone or via email.

    Cons

You don't really get individual recognition for excelling in the role. Also you can't use them as a work reference. All they do is confirm the dates you worked for them. Temporary contract can end suddenly, without warning.

I worked at Brook Street full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Best training in the industry and fantastic bespoke IT system

    Cons

Lacks in progression opportunitie's people tend to get promoted for been in the right place at the right time and not promoted for acheivments

    Advice to Management

Take note of whos made money and promote them not the last man standing in the room out of desperation, pay better basics and create some sort of entry level consultant to consultant to senior so people who are good stay motivated ay the thought of going up through the ranks

I have been working at Brook Street full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Began working for Brook Street in 2015. Great team, great attitude, at The Strand Branch, London. Actually made you feel you were working for best of best. Went out their way to get you the best hourly rate.

    Cons

People have moved on. That buzz, that feeling you were a part of a great agency is now gone. I have not worked in nearly six months. It is now a case of take it or leave. Have been told I am not entitled to higher hourly rates on some of the jobs they contact me about.
No one calls you anymore. They just email you about a role. If you don't respond, they don't follow through. Truly sad that they have a large contract with Central Government.

    Advice to Management

Do I need to spell it? Your consultants are not doing their jobs and are not all that bothered. My being out of work for nearly six months, despite having CTC Clearance, speaks volumes

I worked at Brook Street as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Able to find positions very quickly. Quick to respond and communicate with candidates.

    Cons

High client turnover. Weekly pay, instead of monthly. No rollover on holiday accrued. Little visible effort to aid candidates in converting temp/contractual engagements to full time employment.

    Advice to Management

    Shorter probation period.
Holiday time rollover for loyal candidates.

I worked at Brook Street full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I have no pros it was that bad.

    Cons

Staines branch: Terrible management, dont know how to support or train their staff, people leave before even being there for a full year, incorrectly pay clients/ customers and staff ALL THE TIME. Salaries and commission is awful. MICROMANAGEMENT TO THE MAX, they never let you prove yourself they always jump in and think because they have been there longer they know best. they do nothing for their employees unless your favorited and there is no progression path whatsoever you literally have to wait for someone to leave in another office to move up to branch manager and that it may not even be commutable so your stuck.

    Advice to Management

Make clear career progression paths. Pay better. If a manager cannot even retain staff then why are they a manager? Better office training and more support. Dont talk about employees behind their backs to other office staff when they havent even walked out the office.

    Pros

The people, can't stress this highly enough. The guys in the Abingdon Branch are friendly and supportive. You couldn't wish to work for a better bunch.

    Cons

Literally no cons. Just felt that recruitment wasn't quite the right long term industry for me which is no reflection on the company at all.

    Advice to Management

Keep recognising the amazing work done at branch level.

I worked at Brook Street as a contractor (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Okay if you are a school leaver with no work experience

    Cons

Okay if you are an immigrant used to working for Low Pay

    Advice to Management

Stop setting irrelevant online tests in MS Office for jobs not requiring it. How many people use Excel or Powerpoint on a daily, weekly, monthly or ever yearly basis in 90% of their jobs? Especially if that job is phone based customer service.

I worked at Brook Street full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Nothing.
(it wont let me continue until I add more words.)

    Cons

Pushy, unless you fit in with what the branch staff want don't expect to hear from them, only care about their commission.

    Advice to Management

Train your branch staff. If they are going to send people to interviews, they need to communicate with them to ensure they are free. Don't ignore people you are trying to put in to work.
