    Puppets on a stage

Mar 28, 2021 - Health and Wellness Director RN in Colorado Springs, CO

    Pros

The residents and their well being.

    Cons

Brookdale portrays this image of commraderie and a vision of unification between residents and staff. And the residents are perfectly presented at the centerfold. Coorperate goes on stage and gives there speel and, to their credit, it is well presented and thoughtfully calculated. But it is calculated with a box-office revenue picture in mind rather than actual engagement. The real visionaries, the ones who keep said production in continuation, are the lower-level employees behind the stage. Bending over backwards with pulled strings for rising curtains, breaking there backs on lifts for lighting cues. But, no one thanks them. Because it is part of the production, it is procedure, and it is taken for granted. But, now, there light cues will be off. The curtains will not rise in time. Now, they will notice. And, now, the actors will go into improvisation. And, they are smart and trained in the art so the onlooker may not even realize it’s improv. But, the men and women behind the curtain will know. And the actor will have to keep making adjustments. The performance will keep being altered until it’s not even the same picture. I do not wish to be part of this picture. If you say it’s for residents- it’s not. If you say it’s for employees- it’s not. It is for revenue and monetary value will never replace interpersonal and morality. It will never please. I do not want to continue setting the stage for a falsified and vain feature.

    Horrible and dysfunctional

Feb 17, 2021 - Health and Wellness Director in Harrisburg, PA

    Pros

If in another location other than Harrisburg, PA the employee can benefit from interacting with residents, hopefully meet some positive coworkers and enjoy the benefits of Brookdale

    Cons

The building in Harrisburg, PA is the most hostile, awkward, uncomfortable work environment! The few managers ( many open positions) that work there spend there days gossiping in the business office instead of helping residents and others staff. Regional management acknowledges the dysfunction but ultimately accepts it. Sad situation for any new employees and ultimately the residents because while they talk all day.. no activities happen, nothing gets fixed and staff turn over is the worst I have ever seen! The whole building is staffed with agency. Feel sorry for whoever they convince to come work there if nothing changes!

    Great company, little understanding

Jan 29, 2021 - Health and Wellness Director

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Policies and procedures clearly outlined, lots of resources, growth opportunity

    Cons

Algorithm for care needs based on averages not realistic with resident focused care, expects all duties and managing to be entirely completed and gives little to no understanding when teams are not fully staffed.

    Pros

Solid training available if you're allowed time to complete it. Always hiring.

    Cons

No structure at the community due to a complete turnover in leadership. Due to covid support is limited at best. Regional team not strong and still learning their roles. Due to the significant need at the community was not able to complete any training, or was severely delayed.
