I worked at Brookdale Senior Living full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good coworkers, good shift times, available to switch shifts with coworkers, fun residents, relaxed environment, can be fun, you can be independent or work in a team

    Cons

Management does NOT care about you, they do not fix any problems you have even if you use your chain of command, they do not care if you get hurt, you do not get any raises, you do not get education, benefits are horrible and expensive, everything is literally horrible about this company. They do not care about you. They just care about money. Employees do not do their work.

    Advice to Management

Care, be a person. Don't let your employees continually get hurt. Fix the problems that occur. Help your employees. Keep a laid back environment but actually enforce rules. Don't play favorites. Fix what your employees tell you is wrong!

    Pros

Corporate has a great vision for the future.

    Cons

Corporate and each establishment do not see eye to eye, If the sales department is not happy then no one is happy. Work life balance is horrible.

    Advice to Management

Have your managers back, if you say you will do something then do it. Don't pretend to be/do something then be negligent.

I have been working at Brookdale Senior Living full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Definitely the bonds you create with the residents , Brookdale seems like home , when I go to work it feels really like I'm going to my second home , it is filled with people that love each other and work hard to take care of the residents that we love so much. Decent pay, Christmas Bonus , warm atmosphere, sense of self growth , good full time benefits , beautiful communities .

    Cons

Lack of communication between employees and management , would like to see the company be more selective with their caregivers , once they hire more qualified caregivers it would be nice to see them get paid more since they really break their backs .

    Advice to Management

Reward your good workers before they leave , be more selective with the hiring and really communicate with your employees

I have been working at Brookdale Senior Living full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The residents and associates are great!

    Cons

Company grew too big too fast, too many changes at once. Unorganized and poor training with less people to man the front line

    Advice to Management

The new systems are terrible. We were better off two years ago. The rolls outs and training were not well thought out with too much red tape to get anything accomplished
