    Pros

Not a good place never have full staff which doubles your work they want you to be care giver housekeeper and dining room servant

    Cons

They do not have enough staff to take care of the people they have . A lot of the residents need to be in a nursing home they are not assisted living they are all care

    Advice to Management

Oh they sweet talk you the one nurse is very nice though

I have been working at Brookdale Senior Living full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Working with seniors is rewarding.

    Cons

I have been in healthcare for 25 plus years. I thought I have seen it all. I am broken at what I have experienced during my years at this company. It starts at the top with allowing facilities to be run be uncaring and unknowledgeable staff. Unable to go to HR or supervisors with issues and if you voice your concerns there is retaliation. The Compliance line is a joke. Don`t bother. Your are valued more if you smooze or know all the big wigs. But, if you work hard and are dedicated you are treated awful. You are better just being average and no reason to be go above and beyond.Leave with your pride before you are beaten down.

I worked at Brookdale Senior Living part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Caring supervisor , kind residents helpful CNAs

    Cons

General managment short staffing trying to cut corners. Over working servers in two postions one not paid for as a dishwasher. Have to be a dish washer in between serving with constant understaffing. Always running behind never able to catch up. Unhappy residents not getting served meals on time , servers coming back from dish pit hot and sweaty in apperence trying to serve residents. Constanly in the weeds. General management does not care nor will help and pays two dollars less then other retirement homes who have dishwashers and servers.

    Advice to Management

Stop being cheap stop over working your staff and pay correct for the postion appiled for.

    Pros

Nice co-workers. Really no other pros than that.

    Cons

Bully boss. Terrible work/life balance. Slave drivers. You're bled dry for your salary and benefits.

    Advice to Management

Figure why there's high turnover and investigate into different department management why that is.

I worked at Brookdale Senior Living full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Working with the residents was wonderful. I also enjoyed most of my associates.

    Cons

It is tough to work in a place that cares for the elderly when you wouldn't dream of putting your own loved one. Most associates truly do care, but buildings are severely understaffed. Managers have no control over anything, which makes it nearly impossible to run a department. Everything decision is made to save money, or to not end up in a lawsuit. Brookdale doesn't care about their residents, and frankly, for what they get compared to what they pay, I think Brookdale steals from them.

    Advice to Management

Listen to managers and associates at the local level. Treat your associates like they are the valuable assets they are. Make decision based on love and care for the residents...The bottom line will take care of itself if they start doing the right thing, and improve their horrible reputation.

I have been working at Brookdale Senior Living full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The residents that over pay for their rooms are the only reason I keep coming back.

    Cons

Extremely high turnover rate, most don't last 3 months. The person at the top makes millions while the people at the bottom doing back breaking work have to fight for a twelve cent raise, literally. Do yourself a favor and find a job that will respect you, not Brookdale.

    Advice to Management

It is obvious marketing only cares about filling rooms to get their percentage. Show some compassion and understanding for the residents you put into those rooms.
