    Pros

Love my co-workers, great team work, and fair management.

    Cons

Just like anywhere, the budget interferes with comfort level sometimes. Would like more consistent ratio of staff to resident. Overall not bad though.

    Advice to Management

Continue to work the floor on occasion, know what issues staff have with decisions made behind the desk. Keep up the good work!

I have been working at Brookdale Senior Living full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The atmosphere is pretty good, working with some great co workers, and love the few residents who make me smile . Most of the time I do the events making good food for parties I absolutely love to make it special !

    Cons

Pay is ridiculous for a lead cook who bust their butt to try to make every resident feel special with food to their liking ! The gossip and teamwork is terrible they have their own little groups of people who run off a lot of new employees ! Laziness in care givers ! The management is about the $$$$ bonuses never happen ,no incentive! Huge overturn of employees ! Good employees quit because of the pay and forced hours they are made to work !

    Advice to Management

Y'all really need an undercover boss come into the building and see what's going on .... That's the only way is if corporate comes in and get to see first hand and fix the problems ! To many problems to mention ! Love working here but it's hard to look past done things being done ! There is retaliation for calling corporate to complain ! Y'all need to really get good human resource directors in the buildings and things should be and remain confidential ! That's a start in a great direction !

I worked at Brookdale Senior Living full-time

    Pros

Interacting with residents and friendships developed while working there.

    Cons

Favoritism in scheduling and hiring. Miscommunications between upper management and associates. Communication lacking in general. When issues arise managers didn't step up and make sure said issues were taken care of. Had PTO time, was not allowed to use it. More work than pay. Basically no raise each year...cents.

    Advice to Management

Communicate with your associates and other employees! That goes for managers too. Don't always be negative and berating in all staff/individual department meetings. I know the meetings are for addressing issues but if you continually be negative that creates not so happy employees. Realize that insuring the residents receive the care they are suppose to is not always so easy for the care associates. That the associates may need an extra hand to help them out. If an issue is brought to you don't just sweep it under the rug.
