I worked at Brookdale Senior Living full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

One free meal when you work six hours or more, two meals if you are working double shift. Food is awesome. Has PTO and insurance. Sick pay for those that are not full time. Lots of activities for residents to do and fun outtings for them. They even have happy hour for the old folks.

    Cons

No team work. If there is no team work in your work place then it makes things difficult. If you don't like each other at least still do your work. Don't have one person or the morning person play catch up when they come in! No matter what department you are in help each other out!

    Advice to Management

Just because someone does not suck up to you does not mean they are not doing their job. Maybe you should evaluate the person that goes into your office every day. You think no one knows you have a little circle but everyone sees it and doesn't say anything. Stop playing favorites and see both sides of the fence.

I worked at Brookdale Senior Living full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The residents families and I had a wonderful team.

    Cons

No one has a voice except the Executive Director and The regional Managers. They get away with inappropriate behavior and discredit employees. The residents are last and their “numbers” are the priority.

    Advice to Management

Your Executive Directors are not good people! Your regional staff supports Executive Director decisions because they hired the Executive Directors and don’t want to look bad! Take care of your Front line, the people providing the care.

I have been working at Brookdale Senior Living full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The residents and their families are wonderful.

    Cons

Unrealistic expectations, greedy corporate attitudes, strictly money driven, poor leadership, backstabbing and gossipy.

    Advice to Management

Stop running bare bones staffing, stop focusing on NOI to the point EDs sacrifice quality in order to garner larger year end bonuses. Support your sales team instead of constantly degrading them and always asking for more.
