I worked at Brookdale Senior Living full-time

    Pros

the residents were great and appreciated the staff, the building was attractive, pay was good, and PTO was pretty good.

    Cons

the management doesn't care about the staff or the resident's, it's all about the money, we didn't have the proper wound treatment supplies, no teamwork, received admissions without notice!!!!!!

    Advice to Management

Treat your staff member's with respect, stop threatening nurses about being fired if they don't "meet your standards" treat the resident's like people, not just a dollar sign!!!!

    Pros

Fostering Meaningful Relationships with Clients, Nice Working Atmosphere

    Cons

Low Pay, Poor Management, No Set Hours for Certain Positions, Generalized Chaos, Few Benefits

    Advice to Management

For a Billion Dollar Corporation, You Have Been Extremely Stingy with Pay & Benefits. Fix That.

I worked at Brookdale Senior Living full-time

    Pros

It's company that many people have heard of.

    Cons

Since the merger with Emeritus, the caring and culture of company declined.

    Advice to Management

Put the people first-whatever happened to "put the resident first, the bottom line will take care of itself"?

I have been working at Brookdale Senior Living full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Love the residents and fellow staff

    Cons

Poor management. Even the ED doesn't know how to handle the problems which include chronic understaffing.

    Advice to Management

Hire more staff, market to people who care and get more regular staff, not agency. Try to care about your staff and give more perks. Be more personable and try working on the floor instead of being lazy.

I have been working at Brookdale Senior Living full-time

    Pros

Convenient, close to home, and my work schedule works for me.

    Cons

No leadership amongst the management team, low moral, staff does whatever they want and it seems like we can't keep an Executive Director for long, 2 years tops.

    Advice to Management

Throughly think about your desicions that affect the staff. If you are going to hire new staff members, make sure that they are available to work when you need them not when or where they tell you. Keep in mind who is in charge. FAVORITISIM NEEDS TO STOP!

I worked at Brookdale Senior Living part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Residents were very cute and kind and hours where given to me when I needed them and they were flexible with my schedule

    Cons

Coworkers were and are all immature and would talk a lot of gossip, very unprofessional. Not good enough pay for being a CNA and doing all that you do in the shift as well as dealing with disrespectful co-workers.

    Advice to Management

I have no idea who they even are

I worked at Brookdale Senior Living part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good hours 7am-2:30pm for waitstaff. Tasks given are simple and can be a fun interactive environment with enthusiastic employees. Employer is flexible and accommodating when it comes to requesting time off

    Cons

No tips, poor management and unreliable employees. Low pay and no room for advancement. Sometimes employees are required to work back to back double shifts and the facilities need to be better maintained

    Advice to Management

Give more incentives for prospective employees. Such incentives could include small bonuses to good employees. Also offering opportunities for advancement would be ideal for servers who may be looking into higher paying positions

I worked at Brookdale Senior Living full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Love the residents and working with them!

    Cons

    Everything else about being there!

    Advice to Management

Act as though you really care about the lives of these precious people as much as you really do your money!! And management, although you think differently, is NOT so good as to be above rolling up their sleeves and helping out...
