I worked at Brookdale Senior Living full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked in two different locations and with different job titles/descriptions over 2.5 years. One as a Director where I was the only maintenance person and one as a Supervisor where I worked in a team. They both had there pros and cons. Salary was around $15 / hour plus.

    Cons

Lots of procedures and protocols. You need to be organized and somewhat tech savvy, and enjoy planning your days, weeks and months. Should enjoy being elderly folks.

    Advice to Management

    In general, management was excellent.

    Pros

They have brought the pay to a fair wage.

    Cons

Management does not communicate with staff. Management does not step up to help the staff when they are in a bind and they are unprofessional.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your staff instead of putting them down.

    Pros

There are none. Most messed up company I have ever worked for. They don't care about anything but making money.

    Cons

The pay is the worst in the field.
Care about lining there own pockets with money and don't care about there residents.

    Advice to Management

    Care more about your residents

I have been working at Brookdale Senior Living (Less than a year)

    Pros

There are many opportunities to make a difference in lives of residents, families, and fellow employees, I have met some wonderful people here as well as some who have challenged my self control and disciplinary skills. All of these have helped my professional and spiritual growth. My Director trusts me and I feel she respects me and counts on me. I can come to her when I disagree with her and we can talk.

    Cons

Hate having to take a mandatory hour break due to working a 12 hr shift. -- Wish employees would be kinder to one another. Maturity is not everyone's strong suit but hopefully those with good hearts can learn and grow in servitude and confidence.

    Advice to Management

Have ( continue to have) integrity and hold yourself to a higher standard because your front line staff observe and are the backbone of Brookdale. They will react accordingly as to how they are treated and talked to. Good workers stay on despite the flaws in management because they answer to a Higher Power and are able to rest their head on their pillow at night without any guilt. PLEASE do what is right and have strength of character to show a good example. I know your job is not easy and we appreciate your efforts in all areas.
