      Pros

Large company that manages to hire a lot of talented people.

      Cons

Staffing levels are kept very low. Most employees perform the work of what would be 2 or more people in competing companies.

This company will ruin your career

      Pros

There was free coffee in the office, pre Covid

      Cons

Hands down worst job I've ever had. Worst company, worst boss, worst co-workers, worst facilities, worst technology team. They don't care about attracting good employees, they just hire the cheapest and the youngest they can find, unfortunately that means they bring along little to no skill set aside from what they learned in college or internships, so the talent pool is quite shallow. It's funny because they call it a "flat" organization yet you definitely know your place in the pecking order and it takes five years to move up one level. It also takes five years to get one more vacation day over the paltry introductory 10 vacation days that they offer per year. Everyone in Canada they hire is a contractor, they don't like to invest in full time employees. As such it leads to a culture like a consultant shop where there is a revolving door that never stops turning. I have heard managers openly berating employees in public spaces pre covid. This open intimidation results in a culture of fear where speaking out is simply not allowed. Although the systems and processes are completely outdated with tons of manual workarounds needed, if you try to make a suggestion to improve something it will be considered "back talk" and you will be reprimanded or fired immediately. The parent company Brookfield is a blood sucking soulless corporation bent on extracting every last dime out of an asset including its employees. Work-life balance, good luck with that, doesn't exist, especially given how manual and broken everything is you will be up late at night getting yelled at for not having something out on time because you've been dealing with the crashing software and inefficient workflows, and it will only look bad on you because they accept no responsibility for just how bad the systems in place are. If you are considering this job and are completely desperate and really need the money, I could see you working here while you find something better. But if this is your goal, to join this terrible company, I think you need to revisit that decision making process and steer your search towards an actually good company to work for. This is not it, its actually the worst benefits package I've ever had in my career. I thought I was making a sacrifice that would eventually pay off by taking a pay cut, but they will keep you at that level for five years without batting an eye. So if you want some actual growth in your career and pay check, you ought to keep looking and be glad you skipped this one. So much more to stay, I'll leave you with, don't walk, RUN away from this company. By the way, they require all employees to be physically in the office in New York City (Brookfield Place - Lower Manhattan) and wearing a suit and tie, from July 2020 and onwards. They are no longer allowing Work From Home during Covid, although most roles can be performed remotely.

      Gross third party privacy violations

      Pros

It was okay while it was run from Canada.

      Cons

Brookfield decided to force all employees to download a third party mobile application onto their personal cell phones. The app in question is a gross violation that has logs key strikes and location. Brookfield is requiring personnel to log in and fill out a questionaire daily - even on weekends, even when one is not scheduled to work without pay. Brookfield is not paying for any costs in access to perform said questionaire.
