I worked at Brookhaven College part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-They taught me different things and the job was never boring
-I was constantly doing new things
    -Coworkers were nice

    Cons

A bit stressful when class registration came around for the upcoming semester, students tend to be rude during that time.

    Advice to Management

They need to educate the employees more about certain things and make sure every employee is receiving the same correct information.

I have been working at Brookhaven College (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Christmas and Spring Break holidays plus vacation. Sick and vacation can be carried over.

    Cons

Poor advancement outlook and low pay. Morale is low. Upper administration is not supportive of staff and everyone knows it.

    Advice to Management

Create an environment where employees feel genuinely appreciated and are rewarded for hard work.

I have been working at Brookhaven College full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Located in a great part of Dallas with plentiful housing, access to restaurants, theaters and hike and bike trails. Good quality of life near or close to campus. Fast pace of work makes the days go by quickly, and most people are really willing to help you adjust and grow.

    Cons

No option for paid time off (PTO); one size fits all benefits, although pay is competitive and healthcare coverage is 100% paid for single individual. Some of the people who have been at the college since it opened are not open to new ideas of millennials and younger generations of teachers and staff. Need more opportunities to socialize and bond with coworkers.

    Advice to Management

Keep putting the values into action and model the way for those who are slow to embrace change or try new things. Add some younger supervisors and take some risks!

I worked at Brookhaven College full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Vacation days like Spring break, Christmas, etc.

    Cons

Pay, management, no job movement, poor attitudes.

    Advice to Management

Giving your employees actual promotions and raises would really help moral. And make advisors give a damn about students. There should be job growth in a job, what happens here is unacceptable.

    Negative Outlook

    Pros

Good time off. 100% of health insurance is paid. Off at Christmas-New Years, and Spring Break.

    Cons

I have worked for Brookhaven college for over 4 years. The upper leadership, are looking out for their self. HR is a joke. Instead of giving pay raises for doing a good job, EVERYONE gets a cost of living raise. Upper management/Deans are afraid of the faculty. Faculty members runs the college.

    Advice to Management

Stop being a "control freak". Let the employees do their jobs. If a campus project is not under their authority, they have to stick their nose in it to have control. Most of the VPs are in place, because the other colleges or DSC didn't want you and they moved your to get rid of you. STOP SHOWING FAVORITISM. Stop promoting your "favorites" It is these employees who don't know how to do their jobs. They SHOULD know how to do the jobs BEFORE you promote them.
