I have been working at Brookshire Grocery full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

If you find a good store to work for and you like the people then it’s a good place to be.

    Cons

They are not fair when I comes to pay. And you might as well start as a trainee tech if you want to be paid more in the end or you’ll be in the boat that a trainee is making the same as you when you have 4+ years under your belt and they have 1 month. Their top out pay is a little over 16 and some change so if you want this to be your career then go to Costco they make a whole lot more.

    Advice to Management

Start paying your techs what they are worth not by status or you’ll start losing all of them for not doing them right.

    Laid back workspace, social environment

    Cons

Unprofessional management, incompetence, they clearly pick favorites,

    Advice to Management

Screen managers a little longer, especially store directors

I have been working at Brookshire Grocery part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good starter job to get lots of retail/cash handling experience

    Cons

Everyone calls in, and you become a work-a-holic, and have no life

    Advice to Management

Tell your employees thank you! Talk to them more than just when you need something from them.

I worked at Brookshire Grocery part-time

    Pros

You're going to be trained for the job, paid for your training, and get a free shirt.

    Cons

If you're a man who gets hired as a cashier, you're going to be a bagger. No choice. I noticed this at multiple locations, not just my own, where all of the baggers are male and all of the cashiers are female. Also, if you're looking for consistent hours, don't go here. Some weeks I got 24 and one week my friend got 4. As a cashier, you're expected to do a lot of things. You're a door greeter, janitor, stocker, bagger, and cashier. It's not nice to be yelled at because you're not doing your janitor duties as a cashier.

    Advice to Management

Can you stop with this apparent sexism with all men being baggers and women being cashiers? Let the people who are good at the job do the job. Don't base it around gender stereotypes that "oh, men are strong, they must carry groceries" or "women are fragile so they can't".

I worked at Brookshire Grocery full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Working with and knowing people in the office is awesome. It's like a family.

    Cons

Future leadership is instilling an environment of miss-trust. You can't go to the restroom without being seen and heard on no fewer than 6 cameras.

    Advice to Management

Trust your partners. You are still around because of them. Yes they are working hard every day.
