I worked at Brookstone full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Exciting products coming in all the time, chances to meet global vendors, name recognition.

    Cons

Very low morale, keeps cutting budgets, high turnover, senior management has a lot of infighting

    Advice to Management

Please focus your attention and strategy, the constant changing of goals is hard on lower employees and portrays a level of ineptitude. Give something a try and let is stick for more that one Christmas season. Every January is another knee-jerk reaction to numbers.

I worked at Brookstone full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Small office, approachable high-level employees and executives, a lot of ownership in your position, no dress code, lots of flexibility (work from home when needed, etc)

    Cons

A lot of Executive-level changes, very high employee turnover, lack of training, several rounds of layoffs during my 2 years there

    Advice to Management

Improve training procedures, be more transparent

I have been working at Brookstone (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Casual working environment
Easy to commute to (if you have a car)

    Cons

Well what can I say... I've been at headquarters for almost three years and in that time we've had four CEOs, two owners, two sizable layoffs, and one bankruptcy. Good employees are loaded with work while others seem to do very little. The company has no real direction, an outdated business model, and selling to a vanishing market niche.

    Advice to Management

Need to re-examine your business model and pick a direction to go

    I worked at Brookstone part-time

    Pros

Fun working environment. You get to play with cool gadgets

    Cons

The stuff you are selling is literally junk. All of it breaks almost immediately. Buying junk like this isn't really profitable for a store front, so it will likely close soon

    More spifs for employee incintives
