  6. "Getting better, but community/society needs to help"

    StarStarStarStarStar
    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

I have been working at Broward County Schools full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Steady pay with great benefits (unless you want to insure your children...more on that in the "CONS" section). Great for those seeking to make an impact in their communities (yes, people like that still exist in this world).

    Cons

It's public school and some people confuse that with free babysitting. You have to wear many hats (i.e., teacher, counselor, janitor, mom/dad, brother/sister, etc). Those first few are not on Broward County Public Schools (BCPS). It's hard to balance all of the paperwork & trainings with your grading and planning. Again, that is not entirely the fault of BCPS.

I have been working at Broward County Schools full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Convenient Schedule, a lot of days off great benefits, 2 weeks off for xmas and 4 day work weeks for the summer

    Cons

Only 35 hour per so it makes your check fell small, the hourly rate you are quoted becomes less to accommodate the days off

I have been working at Broward County Schools full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great benefits for single people. Plenty days off. Plenty opportunities for advancement. Can be very intrinsically rewarding to know that you are.making a difference.

    Cons

Little to no appreciation or recognition for work accomplished. Pay does not match the level of commitment, time and dedication it takes to be successful at your job. Easy to burn out.
