I worked at Broward Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It was close to my house that was it, other than that very poor experience, I liked my coworkers that's it because we all felt each other's misery

    Cons

Under staffed, very underpaid compared to other hospitals, hire less staff to do double the work. No employee recognition they recognize the people that are the bad employees. No reprimanding done by supervision, my supervisors basically checked out were going to school and could care less about their employees. Would let doctors schedule elective cases on weekends, and would require staff to sign up for extra call so they would be able to do so. They didn't give you a thank you or anything it was as if it was expected! all they managers care about is making their numbers and getting their bonuses because they get huge ones. The hospital is under an fbi investigation for corruption and fraud currently.

    Advice to Management

care about your employees, and when people complain do something about it. Don't let the doctors push people around and get away with treating your employees like trash, and stop bending the rules for certain doctors! Almost all employees are so unhappy there

I have been working at Broward Health full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Overall it is a good place to work. It is not a high stress environment but it is disorganized. It is easy to transfer to other departments.

    Cons

The changes in management and unsure of the future of BH. It is behind the times in comparison to other hospitals in the area.

I have been working at Broward Health full-time

    Pros

Starbucks in Lobby - Free parking for employees and visitors (which they are getting ready to eliminate)

    Cons

Work short staffed - Bad Management - Doctors disrespectful to nurses

    Advice to Management

Your are the reason for the bad patient reviews - You are not managing your nursing staff. The nurses spend 80% of their shift texting. Also texting personal patient information on their phones to the doctors, i.e. lab values, CT results, asking for orders. The entire hospital has senior personal managing who have NO management skills. Until management is replaced it will remain a mess.

    Cons

    IT Department is Very Corrupt.
They post positions, but they have already picked up who will fill the position without even giving the chance for other internal candidates to be interviewed.
If you are not close to the managers and reporting what others say and do, then you are not good employee..
I wish the hospital was privately owned, None of those IT corrupt managers would have stayed in their positions.
They contract with outside Vendors for non functioning equipment..easy to figure out why..
The IT should be outsourced and uproot the corruption

    Advice to Management

    Treat employees the same way

I worked at Broward Health (Less than a year)

    Pros

Leadership provides opportunities for growth as well as new opportunities. Friendly towards consultants. Overcoming previous challenges related to physician contracts and related fines is impressive.

    Cons

The board of commissioners lack of ability to provide clear oversight and they get involved with operations and ongoing bottle neck in the legal department.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what your doing with exception of PMO which needs more management and direction.

    Pros

Management foresees the change in healthcare coming in the future. New ideas are welcome in meetings and you are pushed to learn new technologies and excel.

    Cons

As usual when accepting a new position in health care you will have to fill out miles of paper work.

I worked at Broward Health full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The benefits are great with opportunity for growth.

    Cons

Management tends to be very disrespectful! They do shady things to employees and gets away with it. There are too many employees keeping quiet as to whats really going on within. The moment you go to HR to report them they use that against you and mistreat you even the more. They do whatever it takes to get rid of you especially when they don't like you. Its a lot of favoritism that goes on.

    Advice to Management

It would be a better idea to interview employees on an individual basis to get the real scoop as to whats really going on.
