Amazing Mentorship
Apr 23, 2020 - Ecommerce Intern in Louisville, KYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I couldn't have asked for a better experience during my Winter break internship at Brown Forman. My supervisors were extremely involved throughout my process of learning about the company and gave me an amazing, challenging array of projects to work on. I learned so much and I am so thankful for the opportunity I had.
Cons
Cons: None that I encountered! Awesome company.

Brown-Forman Australia: POLITICAL, BACKSTABBING, PASSIVE AGRESSIVE - driven by HR.
Sep 25, 2021 - Human Resources in SydneyRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
I have nothing good to say about this company. Even the Scotches are sub-par.
Cons
Brown Forman Australia is fake - fake experiences - fake people - fake management - fake empathy - fake care. Brown-Forman Australian is political, backstabbing, and toxic. So much so that any constructive feedback you have must be carefully constructed because the moment you say something HR Leadership doesn't like, you're added to their blacklist. I can recall one HR Leader describing events that took play over 5 years ago and they're waiting for an opportunity to move that person out. HR at Brown-Forman is toxic. HR Leaderships approach is 'it's you, not me' sets the tone and it feels like you're walking on eggshells. I can recall HR Leadership telling staff that low (and continually declining engagement results) is their fault, not managements. I have never worked in an environment as political, as cold, as backstabbing, as disingenuous, as Brown Forman, and nor have a seen a HR team behave in a way that goes against every core value you could have as a human being. I wish I could say that my experience was a once off, but it's not. I genuinely believe that Brown Forman was once a great company; however, they have lost their way and tolerate toxic leaders who purposely go out of their way to ensure they create awful experiences for employees - these collective experiences of Brown-Forman Australia are a black, permanent, stain.

Pros
None really now that I’m thinking of it one year after I left
Cons
Harassment culture where top management supports harassing managers and internal investigations include nothing but interview with a friend of harassing manager who contributed in this behavior in the past. Chief Accounting Officer at Brown Forman is a fraud, and there is no reason to think that CEO and CFO don’t know about it as well. Run away!

Wonderful place to work in Louisville
Jun 27, 2017 - Associate Scientist in Louisville, KYRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
BF has a great culture. You hear that from everyone that works here, and I'll admit, it creeped me out for the first few months because you keep thinking, 'Is everyone this nice and compassionate?' The answer is a resounding 'YES!' I feel more connected to the community and love all of the volunteer opportunities we are presented here. Participating in the PRIDE festival and having such a large presence is something I would have never dreamed that an employer would promote. It's a great feeling to be supported no matter who you are and where you came from. Pay seems to be very fair compared to other places. Most people here work to live and not the other way around. Relationship building is a huge part of Brown Forman. I've met people and learned about all aspects of business and departments that I may never directly work with. Seeing what other groups are doing is all about getting you out of your bubble and learning as much as you want about the business here. I work in Global Production and could easily keep to myself but making connections throughout the organization has really helped me see a bigger picture and objectives of Brown Forman.
Cons
I want to preface the cons with saying that even the worst day at Brown Forman are 10x better than most people's every day job. Cons exist everywhere and there is always room for improvement in any organization. Cons: -grey areas in career paths, not a clear structure -hard to get buy-in from middle managment for non-direct business tasks (ie particpating in all the extracurricular/ value added programs BF offers to employees) -always striving to do more work with less headcount

Pros
Brown Forman has a great company culture. The internship program is really what you make it. You can learn a lot if you apply yourself.
Cons
It has a very large internship program, so you could easily feel like another number. Some hiring managers aren't on site so interns get stuck doing nothing for 8 weeks.

Pros
There are brilliant people and great brands
Cons
7 years ago when I joined the company it had such a people oriented strategy and culture. The past 2 years it has changed dramatically. In Europe, management with very strict and hierarchical style has been being promoted, very far away of what Brown Forman Values and Behaviors speak of. It's a big disappointment to see that the company has become an ordinary, below the average company that loses its talents. On top of that, EU Leadership is never changing and only focused on accomplishing their own goals, no matter what. If HR has some diversity objective that year, it would be pushed even if it doesn't feed the culture in a positive way. Also, the company has very low packages, not competitive salaries at all. And, local management has no space to move or take initiative and make decisions.
