Workplace full of fun and vibrant Accountants
Jun 29, 2022 - Senior Accountant in Boston, MARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
The people at this firm are all truly amazing. Most of us come from Big 4 and we were all looking for a more balanced life that didn't solely focus on work. Not only do we have the most fun accountants, we are still extremely goal oriented and hard working.
Cons
Managing internal growth can often be tricky and at BCG we are still working through a few pain points as we continue to grow.
Thank you! You are one of the people that makes this firm great! We appreciate the information about how we manage & enable the professional growth of our staff is an area of opportunity for us. This year our baseline/continuous trainings launched and we're excited to see the long-term effects. Recently, much time and energy has been put into enhancing our 2022 performance to make the process better than last year. We hope you'll find the enhancements beneficial too! With our recent survey and focus group work, there are other professional development changes coming down the pipeline & hope you'll enjoy those as well. Appreciate the feedback!

Pros
Supportive internal & management team. Work from home allows for a healthy work/life balance. Biotech & Life Sciences exposure (super interesting clients). All employees are eligible for quarterly bonuses.
Cons
Managing points of rapid growth can be tricky, but it is obvious that the company works hard at mitigating these pain points. Pay & benefits could be slightly more competitive compared to the market.

Good Experience on growing clients, but could use more associates and better pay
Mar 29, 2022 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Work on a variety of quick growing clients where you handle a mix of Operational accounting, Finance, Budgeting and HR, good sense of community and comradery, get to experience seeing clients from seed stage through financing and IPO, Quarterly Bonus if you work overtime
Cons
Pay is below market compared to other professional services firms as well as industry, no experience learning technical accounting as we use CFGI/Williams Marston for this, some work is mundane and having Associates or new hires to delegate more of the work to would be helpful

Thank you for taking the time to share, we appreciate the information. We want to give our employees the proper balance of meaningful work and the ability to have lives. To help achieve this balance we strategically set our targeted weekly hours to be lower than peer firms and we have the quarterly bonus to protect, honor, and reward our employees for going beyond what’s required. We are passionate about pay equity for our staff, to ensure this, we monitor and compare our salaries to the market on a biannual basis. Please feel free to email HR@BrowneConsultingGroup.com with the information from your sources so we may add to our data and adjust as needed to stay competitive with the market.

Pros
Tone at the top is great, always willing to help. Warren will take any free time he has and teach you how to succeed. BCG offers a great WFH opportunity, providing you with sit/stand desk, extra screens, wireless mouse and keyboard, you are set up for success. Work in small groups "Pods" so you have a team like atmosphere. Small company, a ton of opportunity to make a name for yourself and play a major role in the future.
Cons
ALOT of video calls once you get into it. There are busier times (but NOTHING like public). Not much training - you need be be independent and want to learn new topics. Need to be proactive if you want help

Thank you for your feedback; glad to hear the work feels manageable. Our company vision is to set the standard for providing operational finance and accounting support to next generation science and technology companies. Our focus today is to prepare our staff to be great finance executives in the Biotech and Life Science industry by exposing them to all aspects of a growing start-up. As we continue to scale, it is helpful to know that our employees would like the opportunity to see other industries. While we do not plan to shift focus at this time, please email HR@BrowneConsultingGroup.com or speak with your director about your desire so we can support your professional progression.
