I worked at Bryan Cave (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Prestige of big law - Fortune 500 clients, great salary. Also, the firm offers litigation training for new associates that includes depositions and managing a case.

    Cons

The firm doesn't provide a lot of direction or support to develop senior associates into partners. Once associates enter the 5-6 year range, there is a void in firm support that leads to a mass exit of their senior associates.

    Advice to Management

Clarify the pathway to becoming partner or offer clear alternatives such as becoming of counsel.

I worked at Bryan Cave full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice people and generally good environment. Office is also in a good location with great food nearby for lunches and dinners.

    Cons

Not a lot of young peers and not a lot of work so it's hard to learn by doing, especially in certain practice groups.

    Advice to Management

Expand the summer and first year classes.

    Pros

I can't think of any pros - except we get to wear jeans once in awhile, I like my bosses, but we work too hard and too much

    Cons

Most upper management are not involved with the staff - raises not good 2% - they seem to look at assignments as a # and do not base raises on anything else - anything as far as work output or quality is concerned - no matter what I do I don't feel like I'll ever get any more than that, nor have I, despite excellent reviews - too many bosses and not enough help -

    Advice to Management

4 - 5 lawyers on one secretary is way too much - too many of us experiencing burn-out
