I have been working at Buckeye Partners full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great pay and benefits starting at day one. Awesome 401k package with unbelievable company match.

    Cons

Long hours with rotating night and day shifts. Long probation period even after training is completed.

    Advice to Management

Try pushing corporate for clearer point person role definition. Bring back some responsibilities for in house employees in order to save money in contractor usage.

I have been working at Buckeye Partners full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Very good base pay, ok benefits that have dwindled, occasional travel opportunities, really good employees who try to create better morale for themselves where managers won't or can't

    Cons

Departments have wildly differing management styles, zero chance to move up unless someone up above likes you. Hard work is seldom if ever rewarded. It pays to do the minimum possible to stay out of trouble rather than be your best. Long hours with no extra pay. Lots of 24:7 on call.

    Advice to Management

No one will listen or care...so why bother

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Buckeye Partners full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Pay but the money if not worth the long hours and rude management you must deal with everyday.

    Cons

Long hours with little to no recognition. On call 24 hours a day and 7 days. Expect to be called out on holidays and nights. It was nothing to work 21-22 days in a row. They say you are not to work more than 12 hours a day. When you work a 16hr day, they'll tell you to put the 4 hours on the following day, so it doesn't look like you worked more than 12. I accepted a new position and was not given the... appropriate pay until a year later. Two months after I started working for Buckeye, I fell in a hole at work and was told not to go to the doctor because it would count against our safety record. Stay away from this company.

    Advice to Management

Develop a better mentoring program. Employee moral is extremely low, so do something about it.

    I worked at Buckeye Partners

    Pros

Good pay for the level of work required daily. Benefits are some of the best around. Co workers seemed positive.

    Cons

Long hours with no backup or support. Hang you out dry if anything goes wrong even if made them aware of the problem.

    Advice to Management

Before you layoff 30% of workforce review the people that your getting rid of based on performance not just money.
