    Pros

Pretty good compay to work for. Franchise offers good support. Nice quality and selection of fabrics to choose from. Work by appointment so you have flexibility.

    Cons

No base salary as a design consultant. Based on commission of sales

I worked at Budget Blinds full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Job satisfaction managing the process from consultation to installation. Owners were flexible with my schedule as I was enrolled as a full-time student when I was hired. 90% of the time it was a pleasant atmosphere to work in, despite the high stress level that comes with dealing with customers.

    Cons

Treated like I was in 5th grade. Owner liked to pin co-workers against each other and then spring "wrong-doings" out like a disappointed parent. Never been so insulted in my life. Worked my behind off doing the job of 2 - 3 people without any mention of good job, or keep up the good work! Top rated franchisee of This location will more than likely continue to have high turn over until the owner stops bad management practices.

    Advice to Management

Be more upfront and discourage back-biting to keep loyal employees satisfied. Don't be surprised when they leave due to a toxic work environment that you promote.

I worked at Budget Blinds full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

No pros at all. Other than the friendships made of all the people who come and gone and there have been MANYYYYYYY!!!

    Cons

Owners only care about their family life. They have no concern for your own. If you need to go to doctor they will tell you to do it on your off time. But they can go and it's fine. They will call and text 7 days a week at all hours of the day. If you don't respond they will continue. They frown upon and severely dislike friendships within the office they will even tell you to separate. They love pointing fingers to get blame out but can't come up w a solution to move forward. No benefits. They are not fair to designers they give big appts to family first yet scream at office staff to be fair. You even get talked to because you don't invite their petty daughter to outside functions. She cries to them and our outside life is not their business nor concern!! High turn over...it will continue to stay that way!

    Advice to Management

Try listening with your own 2 ears and open your own eyes to the REAL problem within the office. But it won't happen cause it's family.

I worked at Budget Blinds full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Owning own business gives you flexibility to do things. Very little assistance from franchisor which is good and bad.

    Cons

Very few national acts. Pricing from vendors is not that great so you have to reduce your profit margin to get sales. Lots of competition

    Advice to Management

    Fire National Accts team.

I worked at Budget Blinds full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Interesting if you have a love for interior design

    Cons

Work life and social life are not separate. You are "on-call" or being contacted at all hours, all day every day. The pay was not worth all the job duties and knowledge. Each location is franchised. Very little room for growth. The owners are very petty and superficial.

    Advice to Management

Just because you can start a business does not mean you are cut out to run a business

I have been working at Budget Blinds part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Making customers happy when their products are installed is the best part of this job. It's something to do a few days a week.

    Cons

Lack of communication. Tall ladder work not very safe. Once I pay the costs associated with my van, the pay ends up not being too great. There has never been mention of a pay raise in the 3 years I've worked there.
