I worked at Buehler Foods part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Family atmosphere, triple reward points, scheduling flexibility, availability to transfer laterally to other departments, .

    Cons

Management doesn't focus on positives, only on negatives. Regular reviews for employees, impossible to get all "exceeds" marks, there's always a "room for improvement" for everyone. The management style is too controlling, micro-managing. Instead of focusing on the bigger issues, minor details are hammered.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the employees' concerns. Treat everyone equally.

I have been working at Buehler Foods part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The management is friendly (when they want to be). The cashiers and baggers are fun to work with. Pay is above minimum wage.

    Cons

When you have been there a while, they really cut back on your hours. I had to get a second job to sustain myself over the summer because they were only giving me 10 hours! After I had changed my availability due to my second job that I warned them I would have to get, I got pulled into the office and lectured about how I was not available enough, even though I work here 5 days a week. They would schedule me purposefully outside of my availability preventing me from going to my other job, and I would have to leave "early" while getting lectured by management. I work my hardest and have only ever made one mistake there, and management seemed to start going out of their way to nitpick at the smallest things that I did. The gist of the story, is do not get a second job, THEY WILL NOT WORK AROUND IT.

Working winters as a bagger is miserable outside.

I was offered a cashier position for an extra dollar an hour by management and finished the paperwork and everything. They later withdrew their offer and hired 17 other cashiers. There is little room for advancement.

For working at the "nice" grocery store in town, our pay is terrible compared to Walmart across the street, we have lost several people to them.

The store is a great place to work at for the first year.

    Advice to Management

If you offer a position to someone and say they will start in 2 weeks, do not withdraw that offer and act like it does not happen. Also, do not lecture an employee on availability if you only schedule them 10 hours a week even though they're available roughly 60 hours.

I have been working at Buehler Foods part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Short shifts, friendly people, flexible schedule, ability to transfer departments and locations.
weekly pay, direct deposit, daily tips.

    Cons

Be prepared to work a lot of weekends, rare to offer full time employment, insurance expensive for family if only working part time just above minimum wage. As a server you are either very busy or have nothing to do.

    Pros

    great pay
flexible hours, breaks on time, incentives for working holidays even if you're part time.
    job duties are clearly explained

    Cons

90% of management talks down to you and belittles you in front of other coworkers, management will blatantly gossip about employees in the break room. buehlers will not back you up when a customer complains about you. they tell you there is room for advancement and they post up openings, but they have already chosen who will be promoted and only post the job as a formality

    Advice to Management

upper management might want to take a look at the management/service center in certain stores. when one of the Buehlers comes in management acts all goody goody but as soon as they're gone they go back to treating the employees poorly
