    Neutral Outlook

    Pros

    nice co-workers;
    cutting edge technology

    Cons

    no opportunity for advancement or promotion;
    high turnover;
    high burnout

    Advice to Management

    Pay your long-term adjuncts a decent wage; also adjuncts should have some hope of getting a full time position. As of now, adjuncts are good enough to teach a class, but not good enough to hire full time.

    I found no downsides to working at Buena Vista University

    No advice at this time

    Positive Outlook

    I have been working at Buena Vista University part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Everyone is so nice and we all work together well. Also, a lot of alumni work there, which it's nice to see them coming back. I am only a student, but if I wanted to find a job in Western Iowa I would definitely go to BVU as a first choice. It's so diverse and I really cannot get over how friendly everyone is.

    Cons

    A lot of alumni work there. There are quite a few people who did not get their undergraduate from BVU though and everyone still gets along. I have little complaints.

    I have been working at Buena Vista University (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    campus classes, upgraded LMS, 8-week terms, 6 terms per year

    Cons

    45 miles away, no guaranteed courses, 2 meetings per week rather than 1, they choose the textbooks

    Advice to Management

    one-night per week, 4 hours, balance online (blended) courses

    Positive Outlook

    I worked at Buena Vista University full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    The co-workers and environment at BVU make it feel like a home, full of family and friends.
    The benefits are great.
    Opportunity for promotion.

    Cons

    This is a smaller institution in northwest Iowa. Those moving to the area may struggle to find activities within the community if they are more familiar with the hustle and bustle of a city.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you're doing, thinking about the students first.

    Pros

    A lot of support given to faculty. If you need it, you will get it. Technology department is great!

    Cons

    It would be nice to have a place to download free software to stay "up to date" instead of having to pay for it yourself

    Advice to Management

    Give adjunct faculty computers or at least free software
