Upper Management caring more about money than pt care. Lack of communication. Inadequate training. Nurses having no idea what they are doing. Even the nurse managers are too busy trying to climb the ladder. Fighting with providers, making our jobs harder (9s & n)

Pros

Coworkers are very nice. There are a lot of options for movement in Kaleida. Grace period for punching in is stress reducing especially with Buffalo’s weather and driving conditions. Relaxed about medications being passed late ( all meds on time is impossible to accomplish in the time we are allotted -see Cons). Most doctors and mid-levels we work with are awesome and respond quickly with the online communication system that delivers messages to their phones.

Cons

Need for better charting system- it is horrifyingly difficult to maneuver. Organization and administration need a major revamp. Policies are never very clear and change often-you will hear many answers from multiple employees. Medication passes are scheduled for when we clock in to get report, so a lot of nurses are shoving meds down the throats of patients they haven’t even assessed, in order to avoid late med passes. Retirement system is not good.
