      Pros

Great first job! Very fun and happy job environment. Works with kids and toys. Excellent co-workers, management, and corporate seems to care a lot. Opportunities to become assistant manager

      Cons

Low pay, starting at like 7.30/hr, with only 20¢ raise per year!!! After two years there I was making 7.70. also low hours, but that's not anyone's fault.

      Advice to Management

Train new Bear Builders more thoroughly, in the beginning I was still a little lost at what was right and wrong

I worked at Build-A-Bear full-time for more than 20 years

      Pros

      Helping with the little guests.

      Cons

I started in November 2005. The company was great then it was so much working Babw when Maxine Clark ran her business. Don't trust anyone in the company. Work your butt off and go by the rules and at the end of get fired.

      Advice to Management

So much to say and so much more that won't change anything. Watch your own back.

      I worked at Build-A-Bear part-time

      Pros

Amazing company culture, supportive teams, really fun atmosphere

      Cons

Part time employment was all I was looking for at the time, but it might be challenging to others who are seeking full time work.

I worked at Build-A-Bear full-time for more than 6 years

      Pros

Benefits is about all I can think of as a positive.

      Cons

I have never seen such a micromanaged organization. Nothing can be done without approval of the 1 HR manager (1 HR for the entire field!). The amount of ridiculous documentation and back and forth on having things just her way, is such a waste of time. As a DM, you couldn’t even write up a part time employee for attendance that was black and white without the Head of HR’s approval. They have leaders in place but no one...

      Advice to Management

Change HR leaders and older Zone directors. Fresh talent can save the brand and keep good talent.

      Cons

People are rude Disorganized leaders Stressful Work with kids Hours vary

      Advice to Management

Please do not hire on store managers during the holiday season. Also please stop spreading managers across stores, their home store suffers greatly.

I have been working at Build-A-Bear part-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

      - Can be a fun atmosphere (kids are hilarious)

      Cons

      - Pay - Answering unrealistic number's - Bonuses are a joke - You're in a weird lingo between being a Bear Builder and Management - No paid days off (as previously titled 'Associate Managers' received) - Fluctuating hours

      Advice to Management

      - Back up your employees more - If you have a problem with one of them, say it directly to them

I worked at Build-A-Bear part-time for more than 2 years

      Pros

Super fun and the company does nice things for their employees for special events.

      Cons

Feels like no one listens to new ideas, and corporate is more about how to make the biggest sale vs what the customer wants and their experience there. Even though a sales lead is part of the leadership/management team, benefits were taken away and so where paid days off.

      Advice to Management

Listen to what the employees are saying because we work the closest with customers and we know how to improve the company in a way to benefit us and the customers.

      I worked at Build-A-Bear part-time

      Pros

If you love working with kids it's wonderful!

      Cons

Management lied to several employees about them being promoted which never happened instead other people were promoted or someone else was hired into the role and no explanation was ever given.
