I have been working at Bunge Limited as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

company based in London, London Bridge to be more specific, not far from Tower Bridge, which is a very touristic place. We can see the river Thames from my desk, so this is an amazing view.

    Cons

As this is a touristic place, there are a lot of tourists asking for how to get to Tower Bridge. I know very well the place, so I am able to help them quite easily.

    Advice to Management

It would be better if the management decide to move to the other side of the river, to be in the heart of the city, but obviously this is their call, not mine.

    Pros

focus on safety of its workers over production, good work/life balance, friendly people, good exit opportunity for consultants that want a comfortable job, good opportunities to pivot given high turnover of employees, free coffee and snacks in kitchens, Friday summer hours at 15:00

    Cons

glass ceiling for women and minorities, management decisions are often made on intuition rather than data, decentralized organization often leads to duplication of work and divergence of policies, entrepreneurship within the enterprise is not valued, mediocre benefits

    Advice to Management

    follow the data

I have been working at Bunge Limited (More than 10 years)

    Pros

A wide global footprint, variety of cultures opinions and mindsets, a lot of excellent qualified people who are willing to help, particularly if one makes an effort to understand what needs to be done and why. Company provides training, assuming one will have time to take it. Possibility to define your further career step and land an international assignment. An opportunity to learn A LOT. Top notch Controller's group.

    Cons

Political, people get hired/ promoted for having right contacts, not for experience, skill set and potential value adding. More scrutiny is needed into hiring process and matching candidate to particular roles/ teams. Men are promoted more over women and paid higher, which spreads a poor vibe and reduces diversity on management team. Bunge is a complex business and there is a lot of talent turnover due to poor talent retention. Due to it's complexity, it takes a while to learn how Bunge functions, so qualified talent leaving is detrimental and therefore, the wheel needs to be reinvented over and over again, which is a constant distraction from goal attainment. Company culture needs to be more defined and respected. Jobs need to be posted for more than 3 days and qualified candidates (whether internal or external) need to be interviewed for those roles by a variety of people. More work is being spread over less staff which exhausts and demotivates resources as well as adds job security concerns. More management needs to be qualified leaders. Will still recommend working there just because of variety of possible opportunities and learning one can get. Hopefully the rest will be fixed soon.

    Advice to Management

promote based on talent, implement an effective talent retention program, employee referral program and contingency/ succession planing. Senior management needs to be more accountable for their achievements/ failures in front of the employees at staff meetings, such as a town hall meeting, a quarter/ semiannual results meeting, etc. Hire a strong and seasoned HR leader.

    Pros

A multinational agri-business company with strong benefits and really tries to cultivate a team that stays together a long time. Very strong focus on employee safety and overall well being.

    Cons

Very unorganized and communication seems to be a universal problem throughout the company. Management promotes openness and honesty but fails to deliver on these themselves. Overall feels like a company stuck in it's old ways.

    Advice to Management

Act upon the openness that you promote. Communication within teams, between teams, and from employees to managers and vice versa needs serious improvement.

I worked at Bunge Limited full-time

    Pros

You will get a LOT of experience in your field, and often inter-disciplinary experience. You will work with incredibly smart and diverse people who are eager to share their knowledge. Entry level employees are often exposed to material beyond their experience level with helps them to grow faster in their careers. Global company with many opportunities to travel and learn about other cultures. Products and services are very interesting to learn about and the company wants all employees, regardless of their function, to be familiar with their business. Salaries tend to be higher.

    Cons

At this company you often have to do "more with less" .A lot of long hours. There are zero flexible work arrangements and you are expected to be in your chair at all times. Leaving on time means that you are leaving early. At this company you often have to do "more with less" . Not many opportunities for growth unless you are willing to relocate, often internationally.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees more. Stop with the red tape. Just because you did something for a long time isn't reason enough to keep doing it. Get up to date with flexible work arrangements and formal development opportunities.
