I have been working at Bunker Hill Community College full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Bunker Hill is one of the most diverse institutions of higher education in New England.

    Cons

Bunker Hill's culture is in some ways dominated by the union systems that operate as part of the state agreement. Hence, the environment is less competitive.

    Pros

Flexible hours, good for a short period of time

They don't want to give a lot of hours and it's only $11 an hour, so work until you find a better job

Older facility, maintance deferred, lots of walking between buildings, shuttle to remote buildings. Student proficiency range is quite broad.

    Advice to Management

Give faculty more support including parking, T pass subsidy, etc. Fix and maintain office equipment and upgrade computers other tech.

I have been working at Bunker Hill Community College full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

MBTA accessible, reasonable tuition, decent location

    Cons

Too much favoritism, upper administration continues to give themselves raises while slashing budgets, only promotes people that are part of the inner circle, upper administration does not take an active role at the school and is never on campus, allows upper management to attend school during work hours and pays them full salary, and the school has become a factory by putting the majority of students in college level classes when they need developmental or ESL classes

    Advice to Management

Promote people on merit. Too many people receiving promotions because they are part of the “inner clique.” Also, upper administration needs to understand how the different departments work and the stress the employees are under (under paid, not enough staff, not treated with respect, etc)

I worked at Bunker Hill Community College part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible with class times and student schedules. They understand that you are busy trying to educate you self and don't demand too much from you!

    Cons

Hard to get in touch with supervisors and relate problems and issues. Also, there was an issue sometimes with communication e.g. I was not always told of certain policies.
