I worked at Bupa full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

BENEFITS BONUS WELLNESS CLASSES Some really toxic and unprofessional employees lost their jobs in the USSC Center

    Cons

BUPA is constantly getting rid of people . Most positions are given to women who are the favor of the managers and heads of departments. . Certain employees were groomed for future open positions when the CHANGE TRANSFORMATION was announced . New positions that were opened were given to the favorites ! Human Resources has no clue what really is happening.

    Pros

    - Excellent Benefits. - Great Perks - Healthcare insurance great, 401 K, etc.

    Cons

    - Bupa Latinamerica is a highly political company, managers are not promoted or selected by qualifications but recommendation and/or political convenience. Therefore, seniority and experience is not rewarded and encourage for employee growth within the company. - Some Management are transferred from Latinamerica to USA and there are not training provided to teach them the culture of respect for colleagues professionalism regardless if the position is lower in the organization chart. - Time flexibility - benefit from Bupa worldwide, It is not permitted, employee work capacity is not measured, and company does not enforce managers to implement it.

    "The worst work environment possible"

    StarStarStarStarStar

    I worked at Bupa

    Pros

Good benefits come with the job. Once on teams, management is better

    Cons

Miserable atmosphere, everyone hates the job, nobody wants to be there, customers are often extremely rude, although Bupa has a diverse staff some colleagues are often blatantly racist and when this is brought to the attention of managers they advise informal grievance and then do nothing about it. It is an extremely unprofessional environment. Managers pick favourites and let them get away with doing nothing but then pick on the rest of staff for little things. One of the managers for training after the classroom is lazy and does nothing. They don't feed back fail calls so you never get a chance to learn from mistakes while in training. The entire environment at Bupa is toxic. The pay is nowhere near enough to compensate for the stress of the role. A manager also divulged confidential information in a pub about a colleague which was beyond unprofessional and just goes to show how terrible a place it is to work. Again nothing was done about that either.

    Bupa Response

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. It’s really disappointing to hear this was your experience as it does not reflect our culture or behaviours at Bupa. We pride ourselves in living the Bupa Code every day, so this falls way outside of the standards we expect. I’d really like to investigate this further so if you’d be willing to chat please call me, Natalie Ward-Smith, on 0113 3816100. Alternatively, you can provide more detailed feedback anonymously on Bupa’s “Speak Up” website www.bupa.com/speakup

I worked at Bupa full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    I can't find any pros.

    Cons

First of all the company is not public, is privately held and it shows: poor change management and continuous improvement, weak processes and IT systems, lack of training for people and terrible long term planning and execution of strategies. Bupa is both an insurance and a healthcare company and it struggles to clearly define a strategy for its dual nature and properly allocate resources to grow the business. The office in Miami simply doesn’t care for subsidiaries in the Latin American region. Subsidiaries in Latin America are not only sales offices! These are highly regulated companies within the insurance sector and need to be strengthened by hiring Director-level personnel with great technical knowledge and soft skills to foster good governance, allocating more budget and resources and improving processes and IT systems across the region. Some senior positions and managers do not have enough technical knowledge from the insurance sector to perform their role, or in contrast, they hire people with poor soft skills (teamwork, planning, organization, problem solving, communication skills, etc.). This causes toxic behaviours and a poor company culture: placing blame is normal, finding solutions not so much. There is no succession planning. With turnover all knowledge and expertise is lost every time.
