    Pros

This is a great place for self-starters who really want to own their business and make an impact. You are encouraged/expected to become a subject matter expert, consultative and relationship-building seller, and gain exposure to your clients/prospects, no matter your tenure or experience.

There is always the option to travel- seeing clients, attending conferences, or visiting other offices.

Wonderful office in downtown Chicago with smart, fun colleagues (in all offices) who are willing to help in any situation and/or deal

Encourage lifestyle balance with flexible PTO and awesome benefits

    Cons

Internal communication can be a bit delayed/unclear/tougher at times

    Advice to Management

Keep encouraging personal/professional growth and training opportunities

    Pros

This company is dedicated to training young sales people. As a result, lots of young smart, passionate, hard working millennials who really believe in the products. It's also a global company with lots of travel opportunities, and a flat organizational structure where the junior employees get great exposure to senior management. Opportunity for marketers - the underdog position, but the better product.

    Cons

If top salary is your first priority, not necessarily the right fit for you.

    Advice to Management

Keep training people, keep having fun.

    Cons

never felt so unwelcome by a firm ever..... possibly the largest cliquey feel ever.....I sat with a group who acted as though I had the plague. Steer clear of this culture

Provides the opportunity to develop business internationally with a variety of different business sectors, as can be: Governments, Financial Institutions, Corporate, academic institutions and so on
Working in a company with international projection and presence on 5 continents

    Cons

By the nature of business, selling BvD tools is not an easy task, requires knowledge of many branches.
Sales processes delayed a long time to materialize
The learning curve to market is a long process

    Advice to Management

Bet on continuous training of different products and business sectors

    Pros

Since it is headquarted in Brussels, you get good benefits - insurance and vacation. Good work-life balance. Travel, if you like that sort of thing.

    Cons

One of the products is in most banks so that's good but it is already there so you can't really sell the best product and are left trying to sell more mediocre ones. As the headquarters is in Belgium, you can only reach them early in the morning and you rarely feel connected to them. US offices are all sales offices. I had an int'l sales manager tell me that they could care less about the time I spent on supporting my current accounts (which was a lot) because most of them renew anyway so don't expect any compensation tied to that.

    Advice to Management

Recognize the support employees give to maintain current accounts. Train and support your salespeople better. Help them more with leads.

I have been working at Bureau Van Dijk full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Salary competitive with the market
4 weeks paid vacation per year/ 12 'standard' holidays (e.g. Xmas Thanksgiving etc.)
    401k with generous employer match
    Health insurance with reimbursements
Numerous client-facing opportunities / business travel
Interesting and challenging work with smart, driven colleagues
    Reasonable hours

    Cons

Management is reactionary rather than proactive
Internal policies and procedures not well defined
    No management training
    No formal employee training
Limited opportunities for growth after 3+ years (specific to my role)
Certain individuals (including managers) behave inappropriately and are not held accountable for their behavior
Adherence to policies that don't make sense for employees and don't ultimately benefit the company for purposes of 'fairness for all'

    Advice to Management

Work to define standards, policies and procedures that make sense. Hold employees accountable for unacceptable behavior. Invest in employees & provide management training. Give thought to the career progression of employees, otherwise they'll find opportunities outside the company for growth.

    Pros

BvD is a great place to work with an informal culture with a great team spirit. BvD has market leading products with clear USPs over competitors, meaning we're rarely beaten in an objective review. There is a focus on staff development and the management wants you to be the best you can be. Globally BvD has a very collaborative culture with everyone willing to help each other out. Plenty of vacation- as a European company we get a full 4 weeks paid holiday.

    Cons

Nothing negative to report - this is a great place to work
