I worked at Bureau Veritas full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits package is very good, really good and salary.

    Cons

There is no morality among coworkers and much less of managers. Lie, cynicism, hatred, sabotage of fellow worker is applauded. It is the glory to the forces of darkness. If you want to stay working there you have to give information to managers constantly, or have sex with him. No morality, it's a very toxic work environment. The way to be a supervisor is to be a liar, total devotion to managers giving information constantly and trampling other employees.

    Advice to Management

They do not listen to people with moral and honest, you have to be a liar and immoral.

I worked at Bureau Veritas full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Co-workers made it tolerable. Ice cream was given out every other week.

    Cons

Management was terrible - favored the people that did the least amount of work and promoted them, and disliked others for no reason. Only negative reinforcement was used regarding work, no positive recognition ever. Technicians were expected to work mandatory overtime every week, including staying late and working Saturdays.

    Advice to Management

Fire management in Softlines across the board.

I have been working at Bureau Veritas full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Certain divisions have very flexible work schedules and abilities to work from home a few hours a week.

    Cons

VERY, very low pay, no stability, minimal raises, required to take the week after Christmas off using PTO or no pay. This company fires on whims, I have seen people from 3 months to 16 years get let go with no warning. This company is only worried about the bottom line and lining the pockets of its shareholders, not its employees.

    Advice to Management

Stop asking why there is so much turn-over and actually do something about it. Increase your pay and employee moral.

I worked at Bureau Veritas full-time

    Pros

I would not recommend working here.

    Cons

Constant turn over. Too much work, not enough workers.

    Advice to Management

It seems you reduce human capital in order to make it look like the company is making money to the investors. Hire a cost accountant (or a better one) to review the services provided are making money.

I worked at Bureau Veritas full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Worked at BV for 9 years and made some lasting relationships. Some great people who all worked towards the same goal, more revenue. There were some ups and downs but my Division and Business Unit's members always encouraged and respected each other.

Depending on your job function and group, BV offered a lot of flexibility and wide exposure to learn various markets.

Work/life balance is pretty good. They are deadline driven so at time you may put in longer hours but on average the balance with flexibility helped keep a good balance.

    Cons

Pay is below industry average. I went thru multiple salary freezes, decreases and layoffs. I was lucky enough to have positioned myself into various departments and took on more work. No promotions...BV feels that you should prove yourself first then they will promote you. With that approach BV is able to get out more work from the employee without paying them.

    Advice to Management

Offer a career path or opportunities to your employees instead of promising promotions. Reward your employees and coordinate more social/team building activities.

    Pros

At first glance, it appears to be an excellent place to work, but looks can be deceiving. Management takes no direction despite hiring for job description to the contrary. Fragile egos everywhere. Don't quite your job to come here.

    Cons

Nothing but giving all pros are a mirage.

    Advice to Management

Get ride of your incompetent managers, they are the problem not the revolving door of ever new people.
