The staff and co-workers are really friendly and never cause conflict. Easy and accommodating work scheduling.

    Advice to Management

Check in every now and then with employees to see how they feel about the constant changes and their schedules.

I have been working at Burke Williams part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I love the environment, the incentives yearly are great, they offer wellnesses every two months

    Cons

They constantly change the way they pay. The air conditioning doesn't work properly so the treatment rooms are very warm.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and they're concerns. Without them the company wouldn't work. Make your employees happy and they'll make the customers happy.

I have been working at Burke Williams part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

6 free "wellness" massages per year; possibility of trade-outs with other techs.

    Cons

Low pay; pay scale constantly changes

    Broken/sub-standard equipment

Customer is ALWAYS right, even when they are clearly exploiting Burke's policy to "make it right" by adding discounts or giving away free services.

As a company they project an attitude of "We're just a family" when they need favors or need help... but not when you need something from them.

Poor communication from corporate management to each location... we would be a few days into the new month before we knew what the special was for that month.

The constant "bait & switch" techniques...
BAIT - you can do private massages at the spa and charge your own rates.
SWITCH - you must have been there for 90 days, have met your sales goals, book ten days in advance and there is one room available for privates Mon-Thur. Your private clients can't have ever been a customer at Burke and they can cancel on you at anytime if they need the room.

BAIT - you can make up to $60 per hour massaging at Burke Williams
SWITCH - if you've worked there for 10 years and have a "return rate" of at least 50% and only on the longest, upgraded massage. A new hire is going to make about $19 per hour for every basic pure relaxation massage. Yearly reviews are your opportunity to move up their "levels" to make a better rate. You don't move up to the next level if you haven't gotten enough sales - enhancements - return clients.

    Advice to Management

Please value your staff more than you currently do... with action, not with lip service. Techs should not have to wait MONTHS to get equipment that works or supplies that aren't expired. I would love to see someone from corporate actually work in one of their spas for a day... you would get a real education.

I worked at Burke Williams part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Free wellness massage, great co workers, health benefits. Somewhat flexible schedule.

    Cons

Disrespectful and unhelpful management, poorly designed vacation coverage, low pay that keeps changing. Customer service less than poor. Run down environment, never fixed.

    Advice to Management

Get some knowledgeable managers that know what they are doing and are well trained. Update scheduling policy and follow state and national law and regulations.

I worked at Burke Williams part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great wellness perks, can bring new private clients or personal guests to use massage or give them a personal treatment free of charge or private clients, assuming they have never been before. Staff and coworkers were all very friendly.

    Cons

It is very corporate. They have several blackout dates and corporate rules especially around holiday times for taking time off. Their pay scale is constantly changing. Their health insurance offered was only supplemental Aflac

I have been working at Burke Williams part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

My co workers are about the only thing I like about my job

    Cons

An ever changing pay scale. It's clear the company has no money. We don't have direct deposit haven't in months and now they reduced our sales by 3% because they couldn't change minimum wage (um that's illegal) anyway avoid this place at all costs. I hear Massage Envy in hiring

    Advice to Management

How about being more transparent about why we don't have direct deposit or why we take a pay cut but upper management doesnt?
