I have been working at Burkhart Dental full-time

    Pros

Great company and culture. Fantastic people.

    Cons

Ordering software is lacking behind others.

    Advice to Management

Everyone needs to read the living company book. Many people do not know what our differences are from the other dental companies.

I have been working at Burkhart Dental full-time

    Pros

    Pay and benefits are fair.

    Cons

Lacking leadership. This used to be a great place to work with a wonderful culture, you have to watch your back every minute now.

    Advice to Management

Get it together. The culture is falling apart.

I have been working at Burkhart Dental full-time

    Pros

Pay and benefits are commensurate. No commute to speak of.

    Cons

Associates - especially Account managers will shred your professional reputation to cover the fact that they refuse to follow policies, are lazy and refuse to do their jobs. Especially if they've dropped the ball so many times that it costs the company a customer. Then it must be someone else's fault, right?? Be prepared for the bus that will run over you when the account manager prima Donnas get upset.

    Advice to Management

Hold the account managers responsible for what they do. Quit pandering. It makes you appear weak.

I worked at Burkhart Dental full-time

    Pros

Seemed like it was a great team on the surface. Everyone from the President down seemed to have a positive outlook.

    Cons

As the saying goes, if things seem too good to be true they likely are. It is hard to put into words how destructive certain people are to the company and the net effect is a horrible work environment. While it is not "polite", it would be better to simply be honest with people and tell them the truth. The truth, in this case, is that if you are someone who has been around for a while and especially if you are a sales person, you are able to say and do whatever you want. It is horrible the way upper management has allowed these folks to do this and then state "well, if you dont like it you can leave". It is truly said that now I can honestly say that when I select a dentist now, I ask who supply's them and if the answer is Burkhart, I will never give them my or my family's business.

    Advice to Management

Does it really matter? Clearly they know better than all of us and the feedback of its employees as laughable points during their "Executive Meetings".

I worked at Burkhart Dental full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Family & employee-owned business. One of the best experiences of my career. If a senior management position becomes available that is a good fit with my skills and experience, I'll be sure to apply. Miss the wonderful people at Burkhart!

    Cons

Only that I wasn't able to continue to advance in my career with Burkhart.

    Advice to Management

Continue to invest in skills training & leadership development for current employees. Ideally, all managers should have a clear understanding of all team members' career goals so that they can support them with their career development. Focus on succession planning activities and developing a strong bench of talent from the current workforce.

I worked at Burkhart Dental full-time

    Pros

Loved my team and loved the family type atmosphere.

    Cons

The way things were worded in conversations left you feeling like you didn't have a secure job. The excuses when speaking to other Managers/HR about said words and being dismissed. The religious undertones to the leadership driven meetings. The fact that the veterans hate new people and made working there uncomfortable and again, HR/Management sweeping it under the rug. They have a lot of ongoing issues that they are afraid to address. Lots of bullying by managers and nothing being done.

    Advice to Management

Own up to your mistakes, don't blame/dismiss employees and actually LISTEN to them.

    Pros

Burkhart offers generous vacation time, a comprehensive benefits package, a comfortable office environment, truly accessible management, opportunities for growth are possible.

    Cons

Heavy workloads that can be hard to achieve successful results. Somewhat frequent turnover, heavily staffed in some areas, understaffed in others.

    Advice to Management

More staffing in key departments would create more client and associate satisfaction.
