I have been working at Burlington Stores part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good hours and great employee discounts also you do get paid weekly

    Cons

Not enough hours and after you markdown everything they'll tell you not to come in

    Pros

Struggling to think of one. Typical customer service job. I learned how rude customers can be and how poorly retail workers are treated.

    Cons

Awful leadership. Overabundance of shift supervisors and managers for one location and none of them cared about the store's appearance. Both the floor and the storage room were an unorganized mess at all times. Employee discount was ridiculous-only 15%! Glad I only had to work this crappy retail job for one summer while I was in college.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employees better. Improve inventory and store layout. Actually make sure store managers are doing their job.

I worked at Burlington Stores part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Perfect for college students/ people with a primary job who want to supplement income, 10% and an occasional 25% discount on items at all stores.

    Cons

Unorganized management structure, lack of communication, no hours, lack of payroll allocation which leads to being called and told not to come in for your already short shift because a multi-million dollar company cannot afford to pay you for said shift due to cutbacks :)

    Advice to Management

Listen to the needs of the cashiers and floor people.

Be more responsible with scheduling and promotions

I worked at Burlington Stores part-time

    Pros

There really weren't that many pros to be honest, except the pay rate and hours were okay. They give you leeway if your a little late.

    Cons

Where to start? After I accepted the job (I was told I would be getting anywhere from 20-29 hours part-time) I only got 11 hours for four weeks, with each week someone promising that it will improve eventually, so they basically lied about that. Co-workers are not friendly/helpful if you get into a pinch. Just asking someone a question garnered an eye roll. Management doesn't even care to provide you the basics. How are you supposed to give great customer service if you can't get shopping bags, if the security tags removal machine don't work, and no one comes to assist anything when you call? It;s just not a good work environment.

    Advice to Management

There needs to be an overhaul in management at my particular store. I believe they. themselves were the cause to many problems that didn't need to be. Care about your employees, provide the things we need to give great customer service, not just leave people to fend for whatever.

    Pros

The new facility, but that's it.

    Cons

Everything else. Terrible management, long long hours, absolutely no work life balance, VERY little time off, poor pay (especially for the hours you put in), disrespectful to employees, no recognition for your work, no job security, and cliquey. Epitome of American corporate greed.

    Advice to Management

Trust your employee's ability. And respect their life outside of work. It goes a long way.
