I worked at Burrill & Company (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great to always be ahead of the news flow - company had good events, great office, some freedom to set hours. This company is no longer in existence.

    Cons

Expected to work 24/7, poorly managed - CEO hardly ever there; divisions did not mingle easily

    Advice to Management

Manage expenses better, pay attention to your employees, hire more competent people

    I worked at Burrill & Company full-time

    Pros

Junior team members get exposure to many aspects of venture. It's a good place to learn the VC game - the good people inevitably leave. Burrill is a name that people recognize (for better or for worse), so there is some brand recognition.

    Cons

Company culture is bad. Pay is low. Highly political organization.

    Advice to Management

    Focus on employees.
