I worked at Burris Logistics full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great benefits. No need to worry about being asked to do overtime since the company does everything to get you out the door right at forty hours.

    Cons

Miscommunication among management is prevalent, causing frustration and confusion. Also, management does not honor any promises made to employees nor are they easily willing to help promote great employees.

    Advice to Management

Follow through with promises made to employees. Improve communication company wide.

I worked at Burris Logistics full-time

    Pros

I worked at the Honor Foods division of Burris Logistics. There were some truly outstanding people there, people I regarded highly both personally and professionally. For example, Dave and Joe in IT. Dave is highly knowledgeable, excels at "thinking outside the box," and is fun & supportive to work with. Others instantly come to mind: Emory in accounting, Rick and Steve in Sales and Purchasing, Sue at the front desk, and Joe and Richard in management. If you have the blessing of working for Joe or Dave, it will be one of the best work experiences you ever have.

    Cons

The HR department seems to have an oddly close relationship with top leadership, with far more influence over company operations than their expertise warrants. During my time at Honor Foods many employees had been there for over 20 years, some for over 30. When the then-new HR manager arrived, HR seemed to have immediately been given far more influence over company operations than the top producers who had been with the company for many years. Prior to 2010, top management held their top producers, in every department (warehouse, sales, purchasing, IT, accounting, collections) in high regard. Their opinions were valued. By 2013 top management and the HR department seemed to view the rest of the staff as mere underlings. This understandably produced an atmosphere of discontent and resentment. It probably also undermined productivity. Rather than improving human relations HR seemed to sow discord within the company.

    Advice to Management

Value your workers, regardless of their position in the company.

    Pros

    Great place to work.

    Cons

Upper management only hired Penn State grads as managers. Do not promote from within. Feel like your a number opposed to being a asset.

    Advice to Management

Give those who has proven themselves over and over again a fair opportunity at promotion or a chance at moving into a higher role/position Recognize those employees who go over and beyond.

I worked at Burris Logistics full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some employees that work here, insurance

    Cons

Management is horrible firing people or making good workers quit. Don't expect to just do 8 hr shift cause it is not gonna happen. Called in for 2 hr overtime then to be told at preshift have to do 2 more. No sense of workload. No warehouse manager! How do you have someone that was manager of IT of one person to managing over 50 employees that has no knowledge of warehouse functions.Have manager of Winer come down every week to overlook everything. Made true an only manager that made it work quit.

    Advice to Management

You all need to be replaced!!!
