    Pros

People think it is a good newspaper, though it isn't

    Cons

Editors are incompetent. They behave like school teachers. The former editor-in-chief Ashok Bhattacharya was a mediocrity and he knew it.

    Advice to Management

    Get smart.

Great editors; practical expectations; encouraging and reward with promotions; work from home options if needed when sick or other issues; flexible hours; great colleagues; lot of opportunity to try new things, write for different sections of the newspaper

    Cons

Salaries are in the mid-range compared to industry pay-masters. However, cannot be called too low,and the great environment more than makes up for it

    Advice to Management

    Allow more leave accumulation

I worked at Business Standard Limited full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Relaxed, patient and slow. Big and old name. Some really good journalists still around at the company who are very paternal.

    Cons

Too relaxed and conservative. And too slow. Archaic notice periods. Some people need to be whipped into gear.

    Advice to Management

Need a desperate overhaul. Website is still teated as a step child. It has forgotten what can be done.

I have been working at Business Standard Limited (More than 3 years)

    Pros

No office politics. A good place to cultivate domain expertise on business/economy/markets verticals . Five-day week. Superior editorial standards.

    Cons

Growth prospects are pretty bad, especially for mid-level employees. Promotions are hard to come by and pay hikes are invariably bad. Annual appraisal process is a farce. There are no discussions with employees and supervisors merely copy-paste their 'reviews' from previous years' forms.

    Advice to Management

Scrap the top-down employee rating and bring in a 360-degree appraisal system
