I have been working at Buyseasons full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

People are great. Campus is beautiful. Free parking. Casual dress and fun environment. Not typical to other retailers and has a laid back feel.

    Cons

Management switches directions constantly. Not a profitable business. Layoffs made teams too small. Strategies are not communicated to teams. Pay isn't competitive.

    Advice to Management

Loop your teams in. Be visible and available for feedback to retain the team.

I worked at Buyseasons full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Fun, team oriented environment
    Fast-paced
    willing to try new things

    Cons

No on-site perks (no food services, childcare or personal convenience options).
    Major warehouse systems implementation issues.
2 CEOs and 3 rounds of major layoffs in 3 years. You can learn/try a lot here but keep your resume updated and stay active looking for jobs/connections elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

Those that are left are doing the best they can.

I worked at Buyseasons full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Friendly co-workers, good benefits, casual dress code, flexible when time off is needed.

    Cons

Failing business plan year after year which results in large layoffs. If you enjoy layoffs, this is the company to be at. 3 CEO's in 3 years. Company is struggling to stay a float. Very unorganized. No morale. All the good people that really cared are pretty much gone now due to layoffs or seeing the writing on the wall and jumping ship. It's a shame... this was a great, fun company to work for at one time.

    Advice to Management

    Good luck!

I have been working at Buyseasons full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Co-workers are very friendly and easy to work with. Relaxed office setting. They even let you bring your dog to work! Normal first shift hours, not strict on when exactly you come and go as long as you get your work done. Truly a place where you can start at an entry job and work your way up.

    Cons

Business model is failing year after year. Too many systems don't work as well as they should. Sometimes issues take too long to resolve due to too many people involved. Hard to get the attention of higher up people without being a "complainer."

    Advice to Management

Be more real with employees on sales trends and where the company is failing/succeeding. Management in years past would always update the company on their progress and things they needed to fix. 2015 was a year of general statements and passive optimism.

I have been working at Buyseasons full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Value employees, has an open atmosphere, and current upper management is very approachable. Buyseasons has a fun workplace that is still professional and challenging if you are an inquisitive person and hard worker. Last restructuring seems to have found the right management team and personal mix to be on an upward trajectory again, and gain back market share lost to competitors in the online costume and party supply space.

    Cons

Buyseasons has had too many restructurings and upper management changes. Takes time for each new management team to assemble, coalesce, and become sufficiently immersed in the core businesses to effect change, even though this seems to be improving barring another downsizing if that were to occur.

    Advice to Management

Devise a long term plan and stick to it. Speed to market and being at the front of emerging trends is what the brand was once known for, make this a top priority and support the people who are working to make this a reality everyday.
