I have been working at C.W. Driver full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Medical benefits and pay are among the best I've found.

    Cons

Seems like just about every job there on the kind of in over their heads and the reason they got the job is they gave up the farm to get it so they understand the projects and leave it on the engineers and project managers and superintendents to work 12 hour days and then get rid of you as soon as it slows down.

    Advice to Management

Staff the projects the way they should be, start living the work-life balance rhetoric instead of just doing the lip service.

I worked at C.W. Driver full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Small company (family) feel with the resources and systems of a larger established company. Regional management was very open to new ideas and empowers willing individuals to undertake initiatives.

    Cons

New to nor-cal region and not known by subcontractors. Difficult to deal with the bureaucracy of the So-Cal HQ regarding contracts and approvals. Entered difficult market niches. Attrition. Terrible office layout.

    Advice to Management

Needs better understanding of the Northern California environment regarding labor shortage, product type risks, and team moral.

I have been working at C.W. Driver full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good company. Great people. Great benefits. good projects. The "working level" employees are truly amazing people (PEs, APMs, PMs). They genuinely want to help you and genuinely want to educate you so you can grow personally and professionally.

    Cons

Very political. If you know the right people, you get promoted. If not, you wont. If your immediate boss does not like you, you likely will not be promoted despite performance and yearly review score. Company has been loosing lots of people lately due to lack of lower level individuals being promoted.

    Advice to Management

Create a more effective way of promoting. It should not be left to the opinion of one individual.
