Pros
Great company, Great benefits, strong company, great people in management, Lots of paid time off from the start. Management goes out of their way to cater to everyone's needs. Easy work. Friendly people. Very big company with the opportunity to make a very decent salary. Innovative and produce great service and product.
Cons
Not a place to go for a highly motivated person to interact with highly motivated people. Most people have been there for a while and the attitude is that of doing as little as possible and not in the company's best interest.

Great Mid-size company going through significant changes in a bad market
Nov 11, 2015 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Very tight knit organization with experience and a working knowledge in the field. C&C is definitely one of the world leaders in AUV and other services. Well organized. Extremely friendly with a small business feel to it once you get to know them. It is a serious company once you peel away the Southern hospitality.
Cons
Things have changed since Oceaneering has purchased the company and the principal leaders of the company have now moved on. Given the current free-fall of oil and gas market, the company is subject to cuts and layoffs- as with other service related fields in this market. So there's a little instability given this transition. More of a critique of the field in its current situation. Basically growing pains in a bad environment.

Okay for a time but it doesn't really go anywhere
Apr 5, 2016 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
+ Pay is okay, when work is regular. +When you're off, you're completely off , and home all day, usually for weeks at a time. + Shipboard Work itself is usually pretty easy, and even on the boat theres not usually much to do. + Occasional international travel + Most of the other employees are pretty friendly. + Cooks on board are usually decent, at least in the gulf.
Cons
- Very little chance for advancement - Have to spend weeks at a time on a ship. - do not always provide enough or correct training for the job. - Work can be irregular, with long periods of inactivity, especially with low oil prices. Sometimes months long. - some international travel. - Home office is not great at communication. - Home office sometimes makes bad decisions, rushing projects and materials out the door which don't work correctly in the field.

Depends on your department
Oct 9, 2015 - Geoscientist in Houston, TXRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Great moral and overall a nice company to work for. If you work in the right department with a manager who knows how to manage people things are not too bad. Most department offer flexible work schedule and offers great time off for vacation and personal.
Cons
In the past people have been promoted to management just because they have put in the time when they have zero management skills. This leads to frustrated employees that have no training and have zero confidence in management. Even when HR is involved their seems to be minimal change. This results in high turn over in the department. Upper management show little interest and would rather sweep issues under the rug than deal with them.

Great company to get your foot in the door as a geologist.
Jan 18, 2015 - GeoRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Management is easy to work with and your supervisors are easy to talk to. Company is usually ahead of the curve with their AUV technologies.
Cons
Cheaper for them to train new geologist every few years than give them a raise. Communication can be poor at times. A company of this size has logistical issues overseas, especially in Africa.

Ignorance is not bliss
May 14, 2016 - AUV Technician in Lafayette, LARecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Get to travel to in treating places and work with advanced technology.
Cons
You never know when you'll be needed and you'll get called the before you need to travel after being off for 2 months with no notice.

Pros
There are many facets and specialized divisions to work for in a very small office setting, so you will most likely be on a smaller team. There was work everyday and it was a good opportunity to sharpen geotechnical skills and see real world examples of a lot of the things you would see as a geology or marine science major. Pay was about on par for the industry.
Cons
Other employees were very dismissive and even said they would try to run off new employees. Working space was very cramped and equipment out of date. Management was very loose, to say the least.

Pros
Great pay if you work offshore Nice people to work for Located in a great area Not very hard work
Cons
No downtime There was no set schedule for work (sometimes I would work 1 week, sometimes 5 weeks without a break.)
