    Pros

The people are very smart and highly determined. Free higher education with UIUC. Very interesting projects and exposure to different industries. Flat organization, VPs are approachable. Led by an industry veteran. The company has a clear objective and path forward. Equity compensation is generous. Gym has towel service and a steam room. Breakfast and lunch. The list goes on and on.

    Cons

The only thing is no 401K matching.

I worked at C3.ai full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Catered lunch and breakfast are provided One of the few startups that is actually making money If you accept the processes laid down without any questions, life is easier for sure. For some teams, immediate managers might be more reasonable than higher leadership themselves. Tickets to Tom's box are occasionally provided for 49ers games. Holiday parties are great.

    Cons

Leadership seems to be autocratic and set in their ways. Very few things are up for discussion and change. For example, the work from home perk has long been non-negotiable and though it is such a big pain point for most employees. The only response cited repeatedly is that this was told upfront during the interview process. Negative glassdoor reviews that have been posted are legit and the rather defensive response to those reviews is a good representation of how discussions at C3 usually go. Some people are smart, but most of the talent is quite average. Value of stock options is regularly brought up in questions related to compensation, yet there is no clarity on when or if there will be an IPO. Micro management is real. Some teams require you to keep track of every hour worked.

"A fun and educative environment balanced by a very poor upper management"

I have been working at C3.ai full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    1) You get to work with talented people in a collaborative environment that makes it easier to get work done smartly. 2) Some teams offer you to be creative in your tasks. 3) An environment of learning is cultivated through various ways, including frequent lunch and learn sessions that introduce you to a variety of interesting things that the company is doing, as well as fun anecdotes of the employees. 4) Fun environment. 5) Decent Perks.

    Cons

    1) Salary provided is way lesser than average, with no clear plans of hikes/increments. This leads to shortcuts in advancing forward, leading to a rise of certain borderline unethical practices. 2) No work from home. It's astonishing that a company advocating digital transformation does not support this fact that's keeping them backwards in comparison to other companies. No one knows why, because you're shut off if you ask questions. It's hard to explain to your family that you are going to the office during the covid situation because your company does not "believe" in WFH. 3) Very limited perks. A PS4 in a conference room or a pool table is not a perk. Unlimited PTOs so that I can visit my ailing parents is a perk. Understand the difference. No mental health days. So if you're out of sick days or PTOs and have a dead parent, chances are you have to come to work. Your manager might understand, but the higher ups who micromanage won't. 4) There is a vast difference in what management assures people about the company and what the people who actually do the job say. 5) Very few teams encourage creativity and getting the job done is sometimes put on hold if other teams do not "approve" it.

    1) Salary and cash compensation at C3.ai is not “way lesser (sic) than average.” Fact: Cash compensation is benchmarked well above average, generally between the 75th and 90th percentile. Including stock options, compensation is above the 95% percentile for any given position. 2) “No work from home.. It’s hard to explain to your family that you are going to the office during the covid situation”. Fact: Company employees began working from home due to Covid starting in mid-February and 100% of employees were working from home starting on March 16. All C3.ai offices were closed as of that date. All C3.ai employees have been working from home. Some offices began a phased reopening in June, consistent with local ordinances. As of this date, the great majority of C3.ai employees continue to work from home.

    I have been working at C3.ai full-time

    Pros

Do you yearn for opacity and rigidity from company leadership? Do you flourish when micromanaged? Is your ideal work environment tense and cliquey, and do you hope your immediate team members are motivated by either their enormous egotism or overwhelming fear? If all this fits with your goals and personality, this is going to be the best place you've ever worked. One pertinent example: So many of the positive reviews here are made by people who have been with the company a year or less because all new hires are required to write a Glassdoor review within their first few months. It's easy to get glowing reviews from new employees who are still in the "honeymoon phase" of their new job.

    Cons

Do you have an overabundance of creativity, upbeat dynamism, and flexibility of thought? Are you energized by the openness and authenticity of the people you work with? Is your ideal work environment vibrant, collegial, and does it foster psychological safety? If this sounds like you, please reconsider working here. You'll find work styles centered mostly around defensiveness and micromanagement, and your lack of homogeneousness will be a liability.
